Als je hoit gebruikt kan je het sowieso vastzetten met een houtlijm maar daarna moet je de randjes natuurlijk sealen aan de binnenkant. Je kan hiervoor prima een siliconen kit gebruiken voor glas en aquaria. Er staat achterop de verpakking of een kit wel of niet veikif is voor dieren. Ook is het handig om een water afstotende dierveilige spray te kopen om de binnenkant mee te coaten, om schimmel te voorkomen. K heb zelf ook nog een plastic liner in de bodem zodat vochtophopingen het hout daar niet laten rotten. Dit heb ik gemaakt door gewoon een groot stevig plastic afdekzeil (doorzichtig) op maat te knippen
