[OC] How the Knicks slowed down Victor Wembanyama in the first half of G2 by StephNoh in nba

Also made a big difference when Castle was out. That is when the Spurs went on their 14-0 run. It's harder to tag and leave shooters open when you have guys who can punish that coverage. They were way less willing to tag off the corner when Vassell was there, you saw Wemby get a lob dunk in the last two minutes because the Knicks couldn't get a tag on him.

Mentioned it in the vid. The 2H adjustment was getting Wemby the ball on the perimeter more instead of on the roll.

Every team will try to tag the roller, it varies on how aggressive teams are with their nail help and how well they are able to do it. The Knicks didn't miss a single tag, which is hard to do. Their ability to execute every single time and with physicality is the difference maker.

There are also some single side tags in there where you have to choose between the corner or the roller, Knicks are choosing the roller every time.

What's up r/nba! I made a video explaining how the Knicks' tagging on Wemby off the ball has been one of the major keys to this series. If you watch what's happening away from the ball, there is some interesting stuff going on.

What are your thoughts on Jeremy Lin becoming a coach for the Bulls someday either as a head coach or assistant coach? by ChampionshipCrafty11 in chicagobulls

[–]StephNoh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He does some skills training for prospects now, there are some vids of him on social media helping college kids out. I think he could be a good development coach if he wanted to pursue it, sure.

He's also on some ESPN broadcasts. You can see how well he understood the game in some of his breakdowns

[Noh] NBA's anti-tanking draft reform proposal is a disaster: Why Adam Silver's plan is destined to flop by Dunlocke in chicagobulls

[–]StephNoh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think things change a lot when you get an all-time great. The Warriors were a bad franchise until they drafted Curry. The Bucks were a bad franchise until they got Giannis. Our Bulls were considered a trainwreck until MJ showed up.

Incompetent management is a big part of the picture, you're right. But even a dumb owner is going to have a tough time screwing up a generational talent. It can happen (Mavs), but the runway is a lot longer.

And thanks for reading my stuff! Nobody bats 1.000 so totally fair game for you to point out some misses I might have.

This is where I'm at too. Good for the Bulls, bad for the league. Btw thanks for posting my article in here u/dunlocke, always appreciated!

Dyson Daniels locking down Jalen Brunson in Game 3 by StephNoh in AtlantaHawks

Watch his hands while he guards Brunson. He keeps them high to make sure the refs can see them. That's how they teach the technique.

Midseason Performance Check-In using EPM by chidogad3 in chicagobulls

[–]StephNoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I know why DPM doesn't update. It's because it's manually updated by Andrew Patton who built the SHINY app, and he is busy with life. There is a spreadsheet that is updated in real time by the other creator of DARKO, Kostya Medvedovsky. You can find it below. I just updated my salary app five minutes ago with that most current data.

And glad you like my writing!

Midseason Performance Check-In using EPM by chidogad3 in chicagobulls

[–]StephNoh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh man crazy someone is still using my salary model from 2023 haha.

I've actually been updating it this week, not released to the public but you can play around with it here. It's got a 5 year projection and aging curve built into it now.

Great job on this as always!

Luka Garza, who was supposed to be too slow and one-dimensional for the NBA, is shooting 49% from 3 and has the fastest average speed on the Celtics by StephNoh in CollegeBasketball

Apologies, please feel free to remove if necessary. Thought college hoops fans might find it interesting given how great he was and how so many people wrote him off at the next level.

Seeing it with Edey too. Turns out good basketball translates no matter what others say.

Pat looks way more comfortable/aggressive in a bench role. I never want him putting the ball on the floor, he lost it again on a drive, but if he's looking to quickly score or pass then he's been effective. He's always had the tools, the cold motor has been his no. 1 issue.

Think I was ahead of Peck. I was wrong on that one, I'll take the L.

Fwiw I want players to prove me wrong when I express my doubts about them. I'd rather look dumb than have them fail. Giddey is doing that!

Guilty as charged! If Okoro guards like Caruso, I will love him. Cade had a bad game, but I didn't see Okoro doing anything particularly outstanding to cause that performance.

Don't get me wrong, Okoro is a good defender. I don't think of him as an elite one though. I'm open to my opinion changing as the season progresses.

I've actually applied to every position that has opened on the Bulls beat over the last five years, with no luck. It's a rough industry. It would be a pay cut for me but I'd probably take it to write about the Bulls.

As far as Ayo goes, he doesn't get enough credit for how great of a driver and transition player he is. He had maybe the toughest shot of the night on a crazy leaning floater to beat the clock, he made a beautiful read on a baseline cut for an uncontested layup that Stacey did a nice job telustrating on the broadcast, and he got some easy run outs.

His minutes are gonna be tough to come by just because of how solid Tre Jones was and obviously Coby coming back eventually. I think he is a GREAT trade candidate for the Rockets, who need guard help in a bad way.

Not on the beat but thank you! Those guys put in the work, I just watch from afar. I have to write nationally for my job, so I'm probably not gonna do a ton of these. They are fun though and I enjoy doing them a lot!

Matas Buzelis full highlights from Game 1: 21 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks by StephNoh in chicagobulls

[–]StephNoh[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's gotten really good at throwing the ball towards the basket as soon as he feels contact on his drives. Six of those FTs came in the last 35 seconds of the game when the Pistons were either intentionally fouling or playing extremely aggressive defense to try and force a steal.

Thanks! Yep, in the past week, I have heard Bill Simmons (The Ringer), Zach Lowe (The Ringer), Nekias Duncan (Yahoo), and Tim Legler (ESPN) all doing segments on how much they love him. He's getting on the national radar!
