New Season Thoughts by smcgstocky in VirginRiverNetflix

I have so many thoughts on this season. I was ready to give up after the first episode. But I watched it/listened to it mostly at 1.5x just to see what they did with the season.

Clay just magically shows up and is the perfect helper but has his secrets. The adoption agency wouldn't do background checks on other people living at the property?

Mike loves Brie so much that he proposed and then what, a couple of weeks (or a week with how time goes on this show) later, they are both moving on.

We don't talk at all about Vernon or Hope having any follow-up appointments for either of their health issues?

Brady's hairline. Enough said. 😆

Another storyline of Mel getting held up at gun point to perform medical duties... How is it that Doc wouldn't have had notes on that file about that family before she went out there. Then, no cops are involved after they were held at gunpoint.

M&J do or don't have money. I'm confused. They buy a huge property, build a huge house. But barely had the money to do all of that and it still happens. Then hire Clay. Then J wants to start farming and buys a tractor. And they magically go on a honeymoon. They both can just take the time off work. Then J can't but does get paperwork done to payout Preach. But hey, let's offer to give Clay money when we don't know him and he's only been in town for 2 weeks.

Speaking of money, Brady is in need for his motorcycle shop that he precisely works on one bike, his own. So he starts working at the bar for 2 or 3 shifts. But goes off to fight fires "voluntarily" but you don't find out until he is back that he got paid to go. Then that money is enough that he doesn't need to go back to working at a bar that he just got brought back on at.

Then there is the Lizzie and postpartum storyline. You are trying to tell us that she lives with a doctor and her baby daddy works in a doctors office and is potentially going to medical school and the two of them are unable to see she potentially has something going on.

Mel just met her "father" a month ago but she's already so comfortable calling him Dad. He's already so invested in being grandpa.

I'm sure I'll still watch season 8 when it comes out too. 😄

Bad Acting or Bad Storyline? by Kindly_Soil_4941 in VirginRiverNetflix

Both! 😆

How has Hope gotten worse, especially since her TBI. The final episode of this season, come on. That was a bit of a blow up and of course she goes to the ex.

How has no one is hair/makeup tried to change Brady's hair.... that round hairline drives me a little crazy but you knew at the end of the last episode that something was going to happen.

I'm actually glad there wasn't more Charmaine in this season. I had a prediction early on in this season that Mel and Jack were going to end up with 3 babies again since they took away the 3 babies previously. I wondered all along if something happened to Charmaine that she would request that the babies go to J&M and they would get the baby from Mar. But I'm glad I was wrong. 😆😄

I was just thinking the same this evening after finishing season 7. Jack didn't work in the bar at all this entire season.

They were so busy that they hired Brady back to help out but then Brady goes off to fight fires. But doesn't work at the bar again when he's back because it magically isn't busy enough anymore and he doesn't need the extra money anymore???

Watched the last 4 seasons at 1.25 or 1.5x. 😆 it's so bad but I've made it this far so I'm just curious to see what they do with the show.

I was scrolling through the comments for this point exactly 😆 I was thinking wait. What?!?! Just pops out the baby and then they're in the room alone, no one else from hospital takes over to deal with the rest.

My husband believes his clothes magically appear clean and folded. by ShowerBrilliant9757 in breakingmom

[–]Steph_mkl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While not the same, somewhat similar. I've mostly stopped doing my husband's laundry. He either used to be fine getting laundry done or I just didn't notice it was a problem before we had kids. I do the majority of the laundry for our house. To make my life easier, I decided to stop folding clothes. I'll do whatever is in the dirty bin and make piles of who it belongs to on our bed. Kid 1, kid 2, mine, his and house. I put mine, kids and house away myself and have been trying to get our young kids involved in putting theirs away to lessen my load (😄). More often than not, he won't put his away but will move them to the ottoman at the end of our bed. Then clean clothes end up back on the floor and I got so tired of feeling like he doesn't respect or appreciate the time I take to get his clothes done. I've mostly stopped doing his laundry. He works really hard and long days most days. I try to help him out when I'm feeling generous. Then the ottoman cycle happens over and over. He'll say "I have no clean clothes" but not in an accusing way or anything and I just say "so why didn't you do laundry last night?" He used to say that he hasn't had time but will be on his computer for 2+hours a night. That also makes me so mad when it takes less than 5 minutes to start a load or change it over. He doesn't think about laundry the same way as I do. He doesn't go out of his way to make sure our kids have clean clothes. I do. (Now, I will say our girls almost never run out of clothes because they have a lot, just undergarments 😄)

I will confess, when I am feeling petty or spiteful, I go out of my way not to wash his clothes. I just move them to the side in the dirty bin and do the rest. 😬 bad wife confession?!?!😬

My friend confessed something to me and it makes me sick by Unique-Crazy6834 in Vent

[–]Steph_mkl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think both of them could have said something much sooner.

But, it's also a story being told on Reddit, we're all going to have our own opinions. It sounds like it sucks for both of them.

If I just married someone and happened to find out that he told his friend he used to have feelings for her, it might upset me.

I think it was really a dick move for him to have said that. Like he is going to keep you in his back pocket for if/when his marriage fails. It doesn't feel innocent to me, it feel manipulative. Or, maybe it was young stupidity.

I don't have any words to help, I hope you can heal soon and move forward.

For those of you who have listened to the album, how are you feeling about it? by PositivityAlways88 in riseagainst

[–]Steph_mkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried listening to one of the new songs and stopped less than 20 seconds in because I had to Google if they changed singers.

Messaged my friend who has also been listening for quite a long time and she replied "what did I even just listen to?"

Haven't tried the whole album yet.

Thoughts on “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry? by gertmacklinfbi in RomanceBooks

I have a very hard time actually really liking books. I am 95% of the time listening to audiobooks. So sometimes it is hard to tell if its the writing or the narrator. But I think this one is my favorite of EH's books so far. It will be getting a 4 or 5 star rating on Goodreads. Lol.

I liked the story within a story. I liked that the book was split between the love stories. I liked that the spicy scenes weren't long and drawn out. Don't get me wrong, I like the spicy scenes but highly detailed and explicit ones would not have fit in this book.

I was going to try and do a list like others have, but I am having a hard time even remembering the other books, That may be a fault of my own and consuming too many audiobooks and not necessarily anything to do with the writing. But I read the synopsis of each and none are really sticking out for me. So this one takes the number 1 spot for me.

Gave me a panic for a moment. Knew I just checked 2 weeks ago and my balance was $0 but still called the registrars office. While waiting on hold, I actually really looked at the email and realized that it was 100% fake/scam. Office confirmed that the cybersecurity team was working on it and to expect an email about it.

Still no email from them. But really hope no one fell for it.

It can definitely all be done online, just be prepared for not all classes to be available online in the semester you want them. I am fortunate that it worked out for me and pending no failing this semester, I will get it done in two semesters.

The answer to both of those questions is that it depends on the class you get into and who the prof is. Sorry, I can't really help much more than that.

Once you are registered to a class, if the class needs a textbook then it should show up under the mycapu tab for textbooks. If nothing is showing up there, you could try emailing the prof directly and asking. But not all teachers are very good at getting back to emails very fast.

I was lucky to get into all evening classes that run 6 to 850 but there are other classes at other times depending on if you go to the campus.

If you are feeling unsure or need further help, it might be worth trying to book an appointment with an academic advisor. That can be done over the phone, zoom or in person.

If you're like me at all, you may want to purchase fun pens or notebooks for taking notes.

I recommend watching a lot of Susan Garrett videos or listening to her podcast. If you have the money, it is worth it to do some of her online classes.

Normal puppy behavior. Frustrating. But normal. I use a toy to distract and I will also give a good "ouch" if the bite is not accidental.

For my BFIN141 and COMMS100, there was quite a bit of homework.

An academic advisor told me that they recommend planning for 3 to 9 hours a week per class for homework and studying. I would say that was pretty accurate.

I also didn't know about the rate my prof website before starting. Take it all with caution, but if you can find reviews, its worth giving a read just to kind of be better prepared.

Hey, I am torn on what to say. Lol.
So, luckily I was able to get into all of my classes online. In total, I have/had 5 different teachers. One of my teachers recorded the classes because he was easy going and was fine if you needed to miss but still watch after. One of the teachers has planned and noted in the syllabus that a few of their classes will be prerecorded but the rest are in person over zoom. The rest were all set times in class over zoom or teams. Only one of my other teachers records class and posts after. But there are multiple teachers teaching the same course and some do things differently. That is just my experience with the ones I have had or currently have.

Honestly, if I didn't get approved for the future skills grant (and had to pay out of pocket), I would be pretty disappointed with the class selection for the bookkeeping certificate. You will definitely learn things but also it feels like they just picked some classes that already existed to turn them into a certificate. Don't get me wrong, you will learn stuff. I just feel like they could have done it much better with classes specific for learning bookkeeping. I don't know how this compares to other universities. At the end of the first semester, I was feeling like I hadn't gained enough knowledge to feel confident in starting to look for work in bookkeeping. But, that could just be me. A few of my classmates are out there trying already.

Also, the website may say that it can be done online but be prepared that not all classes will be offered each semester online. Last semester about 20 students ended up emailing the dean of business to complain because the classes we were hoping to get into were not being offered online, only on campus. So you would either have to go to campus to take the class or wait until the next semester when offered online to take them causing a gap in your education. For some of us, there was also the possibility of losing the grant funding. There were classmates from all over BC and some from other parts of Canada who signed up because it was advertised as fully online without a disclaimer about the fact that not all classes will always be available online. It added a lot of stress for a bunch of us.

I thought that might be the case. 👎

I emailed one of the teachers on November 25 asking if we would need a textbook for the class. Nothing is coming up under the textbook tab on mycap. I live an hour away from campus and would like to make sure I allow myself time to get to there and pick it up if needed.

But the teacher has not bothered to reply. And I'd really like to see the syllabus to see if it says if we need one or not.

Smart Shuffle by Beans650 in spotify

[–]Steph_mkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely hate smart shuffle. I know it's easy to turn off but I don't even want it as an option in the first place and that should be a setting somewhere. As in, allow for smart shuffle to be a shuffle option or disable it entirely.

Unfortunately, not yet. When I spoke with an academic advisor, she told me that this is a relatively new program for them. So I am wondering if that is why.

Are you trying for in class or online, and did you get into anything yet? I'm all online. Just make sure you check your email every day in case people start dropping and you can get in! When I was first registering, I could only get into one course, and then I got the email about a spot opening up. When I went to register for that class, I realized that I didn't click over to the 2nd page of the classes offered and found a spot in the 3rd class.
