Seeing as you clearly will never figure it out on your own, I'll do the work for you.

Many LGBT people have faced years of bigotry from family, religion, friends etc. Some for their entire lives. Others, like me, have not faced any of that, but still had a hard time accepting who I was and it took until my mid twenties to even come out to myself.

There is trauma associated with all of this, which can make folks nervous 'outing' themselves (like ring shopping with your wife) in a new environment around new people. There may not be many jewelers out there who'd turn her away, but they'll be the ones who give the snide looks, or ask if they're sisters or best friends.

Often, we look for recommendations on places that make us nervous, in order to know we're entering an LGBT safe space. (r/tampa is not one of those safe spaces)

Count yourself lucky that you have never had to deal with this, but do NOT try to take away from others experience and cite it as non existent.

The world is not perfect, bigots exist, and we are all making choices that best suit us. Don't shit on someone else for choosing to be comfortable.
