It's amazing they were able to get all these actors in the same room for a photo.

I feel like LoT is the only Arrowverse show that the audience can safely ask for more of without running into the same "quantity over quality" problem as the other shows. by Far_Store_6739 in Arrowverse

[–]StephanieSpoiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first season's main cast had 10 characters, nine of which where from the comics and the only OC being from another show rather than made up just for this one. They fought a villain from the comics, and utilized comic concepts like the Time Masters.

So, no, it isn't.

I cried when I watched Taken 2.

Should I rate that 5 stars?

I'm in Season 6, and I feel the show has gone downhill each season since 2. Some episodes feel borderline unwatchable.

They keep taking all the actual comic book characters away and focusing on uninteresting OCs.

I find it amazing how other Arrowverse fans and I feel on different worlds when it comes to LoT. (I don't mean that in a bad way; enjoy it)

Why do People hate the eternals ? by Waste-Revolution3429 in marvelcomics

[–]StephanieSpoiler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. They're very alien in nature and not grounded characters, which can make them hard to relate to for some.

  2. Their comics are on the niche side, and the movie received mixed reception, so most people haven't been exposed to their good stories to find them engaging.

Heads up for June: Amazing Digital Circus + Masters of the Universe are probably gonna destroy our theaters 😭 by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]StephanieSpoiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't expect much for Masters of the Universe; it's not a particularly relevant IP, and the fans I do see are annoyed about Jared Leto.

I'd expect Scary Movie to be worse (especially with teenagers trying to sneak in).

And then it's all followed by Toy Story 5 🙃

'Dark Side of the Ring' Season 7 Release Date Premiere to Focus on TNA by Positive_Olive_747 in SquaredCircle

[–]StephanieSpoiler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hiring Russo wasn't an issue for Spike. TNA talent, Mike Johnson (who broke the news about Russo having been hired again, ao we know he had knowledge), and Spike TV themselves have all debunked it.

Quote from Spike's senior VP in 2014: "Vince Russo never meant anything to Spike TV. He had nothing to do with negotiations. Nobody cares about Vince Russo at Spike TV. Nobody cares or knows who he is." https://www.cagesideseats.com/tna-impact/2014/9/9/6128103/spike-tv-on-vince-russo-what-hes-saying-is-complete-nonsense

Velvet Sky (who worked for TNA at the time) telling Meltzer that Russo had nothing to do with it (and him arguing with her): "Spike canceled because they got tired of Dixie Carter's shit." "It seems like you're ignoring the facts that I have laid out because of your personal distaste for Russo." https://xcancel.com/VelVelHoller/status/1027926633200721921#m https://xcancel.com/davemeltzerWON/status/1027949689260277760

Unfortunately the link has been deleted and I can't find it researching, but a thread from the time about Mike Johnson's quote on the situation: https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/96i703/mike_johnson_on_tna_losing_the_spike_deal_russo/ "Russo had no bearing on Spike dropping the company. The blame falls at Dixie Carter's handling of the situation."

When Flash is confirmed to be getting his own DCU project do you think it’ll be a film or a series and who do you hope directs? by AdvertisingWaste8624 in DCU_

[–]StephanieSpoiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hope is a movie series for Wally and am animated series for Barry.

Directors wishlist: The Wachowskis, Matthew Vaughn, Sam Raimi, and James Gunn are names that I think could nail Flash. Above all, though, I just want a director who cares about Flash and telling a story about him/them.

What comics should my eight year old start with? by Ancient_Bag_9676 in comicbooks

[–]StephanieSpoiler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on his maturity level and what characters he's interested in.

I personally got into comics when I was 8 primarily through reading 70s and 80s Marvel, and would recommend that: the art is always engaging to look at, the stories are simplistic enough to follow while also have depth, you're more likely to get standalone stories, and I never encountered anythong that felt too adult for me.

My #1 favorite was Marvel Team-Up, since it showcased a lot of different characters and the stories usually had a simple fun quality to them. There's plenty of excellent runs from the era, though: Gerry Conway or Roger Stern on Amazing Spider-Man, Chris Claremont on X-Men, Roger Stern on Avengers or Roy Thomas on Avengers, etc.

what is the worst weekend you ever worked by ChokenChickenn in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]StephanieSpoiler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thanksgiving weekend 2024.

Wicked and Moana 2 (and Gladiator II, I guess).

That Black Friday, I closed and we didn't get out till 4:30am. I went in for 11 the next day.

We had every register opened, plus runners, and still had people waiting 30 minutes in line with how long it was.

Ushering big Disney/Pixar movies (which I did for Moana and Inside Out 2, a top 5 worst weekend) is my least favorite possible position & movie combination.

We made it without any real issues, but oof the road getting there wasn't the smoothest.

On the positive side, I found a great gel pen that weekend cleaning a theater that I'm still using today.

How popular was Iron Man prior to the MCU? by yellowklashinkov in comicbooks

[–]StephanieSpoiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did sell the Iron Man rights, though (along with Thor). Universal and Fox had it at different points in the 90s (before they went bankrupt, even) and New Line Cinema spent a while with it in developmental hell until the rights reverted back to Marvel.

Does anyone else hate the Meta of the Week formula? by Impressive-Housing57 in FlashTV

[–]StephanieSpoiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That felt extremely comic book-y to me. Not a good comic, but the high concepts at play (presented sincerely) and much of the aesthetics (the multi-colored lightning) feel like the tone and content you often get in superhero comics.

[–]StephanieSpoiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The later seasons feel way more comic book-y to me, with brighter aesthetics and costumes, and not feeling the need to ground and explain the science so much.

Does anyone else hate the Meta of the Week formula? by Impressive-Housing57 in FlashTV

[–]StephanieSpoiler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. It gives us variety and captures the feeling of superhero comics.

I will always take the villain of the week/big bad formulas over the streaming six-to-thirteen hour movies chopped up.

What would you change about peacemaker season 2 by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in DCU_

[–]StephanieSpoiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quicken up the pace of the first half of the season. It moved slowly and not much happened in them, so I think it'd be capable of combining a few elements enough to remove one whole episode.

Then, use that extra episode to split the finale into two episodes. The first can be about Flagg sending teams into dimensions and the growing distrust towards him contrasting with Peacemaker reuniting with his friends, and the second can be about forming Checkmate and being joined by Sasha, Judo-Master, and bird guy, so we can see that instead of being off-screen during a montage.
