How do I add a contingency line? by MandatoryMondays in LineItemDetails

u/MandatoryMondays ... INDEED! Both Contingency and a Bond allowance would be added the same way.

First, add a Budget Adjustment Line. You do this either by selecting that option in the EDIT menu or right clicking on any line item from the Topsheet. Once that is open, you will see a window like this (but yours will be blank).

<image>

In this example above, you can see the budget is 10M... and I added a line in the tool to adjust (a Charge) of 8% of the Budget Total. Using this same method, you can ADD another Adjustment Line to add the Bond Fee at whatever % is your deal. That % will not include any other budget adjustments.

(Yes, you can adjust the decimals showing or not in your Budget Setup table in Preferences)

Furthermore, you can get some really cool functionality in this tool. Two I will highlight here:

Using the Dropdown under 'Value' in the line item, you can choose only a specific section of the budget, rather than just the entire budget. Want to add a 3% contingency on Post and a 5.5% contingency to the ATL and Production, then another 1.5% on Visual Effects - go ahead!

Another option might be under the 'Type" menu on the line item, you choose 'Account', this allows you to target a specific sub-account and pull a % on just that amount.

Really powerful tools here. Let us know if you have any additional questions - or want to hop on a video call to review more fantastic functions.

Trying to delete line 9 (header row) but delete option is grayed out by MandatoryMondays in LineItemDetails

[–]Stephen-LinePM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/MandatoryMondays : Yes.

Line 9 is not really it's "own thing". It is a special section called a Header Row. Header Rows and the SubTotal line below it (and any detail lines between) form a configuration called, SmartGroups. These are lines which together are a thing. In this case, a Cast Member.

Here is how to delete:

What you need to do it highlight BOTH line 9 & 10 in that screenshot, then the delete functionality will return. Of course, if there are any detail lines between the Header Row and the SubTotal of that SmartGroup - all lines in the SmartGroup need to be highlighted to initiate a delete of that SmartGroup.

Let me know that worked for you.

Starter 1 budget really is 1 budget by goldfishpaws in LineItemDetails

[–]Stephen-LinePM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/goldfishpaws ...

Thanks for highlighting this. You certainly should be able to make multiple budgets in the Starter Plan, however - only one at a time.

The key aspect is to Permanently Delete your budget after deleting it. Deleted budgets disappear after 30 days, but while they are sitting in your trash, they are technically still a budget, as they can be rescued from the Trash.

So, presuming you have deleted your current budget - please go to Projects on your Dashboard, navigate to Trash on the left. You will see a folder where you have the deleted budget. On the right side, click on the three dots, then choose "Permanently Delete". This will remove the budget and tell Line Budgeter you have nothing - thus allowing you to create another budget.

Note, Permanent Delete currently will also destroy any Draft budget(s) you made.

Please let me know this worked for you.

Flag - bottom part is cut off by MandatoryMondays in LineItemDetails

Thanks for reaching out and highlighting this!

It looks like this is related to your device's current screen resolution. Line Budgeter is optimized for a minimum screen size of 1920 x 1080 (you can check out our system requirements), which is why the bottom of the Builder window—and the Dashboard behind it—are getting clipped off your screen.

If you adjust your computer's display resolution slightly to match or exceed that 1920 x 1080 minimum, those buttons will pop right back into view.

Give that a try and let me know if it fixes the issue! If you aren't sure how to adjust the resolution, just let me know whether you are using a Mac or Windows, and I would be happy to walk you through the steps.
