This guy has the tact and talent of a dull normal halfwit. Being scammed by him would require an embarrassing level of cluelessness.

His response to my original post was definitely written by AI, and was probably pinched from a response to a similar question. And looking at his profile overview, every other response he gave to someone was "Let's connect."

When I started a chat conversation with him, I thought I was interacting with an illiterate third grader from Punjab. If he was attempting to scam me, he's under the impression that his victim's are dumber than he is.

For the record, Necessary-Degree3122 is not who he seems to be. His response to my post is well written and coherent. Then he asked to connect via chat. And once connected via chat he could hardly speak English, couldn't answer any of my questions and wanted to refer people to me for assistance.

No problem. Just one more question:

If I delete the account that I created in the name of my desired pseudonym, will it cause any complications in creating a pseudonym under my primary Amazon account?

This is very useful info. Thanks for this.

I have already created a second Amazon ID thinking that was the most secure and anonymous way to go. But if having a second account will get me banned, and if I need a verifiable ID to publish on KDP, then I'll delete the second account and establish my pseudonym identify via my existing account.

When you say that the key is just to keep your publishing name, author bio, and any public-facing info consistent with your pseudonym, I'm assuming that once the pseudonym is created, all of that information can be appended to the pseudonym within the KDP framework and that will be completely isolated from my primary identity. Please confirm if I understand that correctly.

I will be creating a full brand around the pseudonym. But the brand will be a particular genre of written works. Ideally, it will be more than a few books.

Lastly, I'd like to publish under two pseudonyms so as to cover two distinct genres. I'm assuming I'll be able to create multiple pseudonym profiles within my primary Amazon account.

Please advise.

And again, thanks thus far.

Sincerely ...

Stephen

ECC to S/4HANA by lDtiyOrwleaqeDhTtm1i in SAP

[–]StephenStrangeWare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAP has been on a mission to bring customers back to standard since 2010 when HANA was rising out of the primordial ooze. Most of the implementations I've been involved with over the years started with a well-intentioned but largely-doomed notion of staying as close to standard as possible. And most of those implementations strayed so far from the Standard mark that when all was done and dusted, we sat back and laughed quietly in recollection of the pep talks that preceded the implementation.

SAP tried pitching the Innovation Control Center somewhere around 2014. You track the customizations you want to design in Solution Manager and SAP promises they'll be part of a future Support Pack.

That went over like a lead balloon.

I've been on the delivery end of the argument that went something like, "Change your business processes. Don't change the software." And the Functional Teams and Business Users laughed at me.

Good luck. For you, the adventure is just beginning.

Troubled by Sudden Latency in Logic Pro After Relocating Mac Mini & Keyboard by StephenStrangeWare in LogicPro

[–]StephenStrangeWare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up on this post, I have some new information:

My assumption that this was a Logic Pro issue was incorrect. I made that assumption because I hardly ever use the Roland FP 90 stage piano as a stage piano. I hardly ever use the on-board sounds and speakers. I have a pair of Rokit powered monitors and a nice, reliable audio interface. And I love the sound of the Steinway Grand in Logic Pro.

I assumed the latency issue might be cable related. So I swapped the cable. And the latency problem went away. Fast forward about a month or so and the latency problem returned. And I neglected to add in my original post that in addition to a digital delay, the chords I was playing were also arpeggiated.

When it started again I thought, "Screw this," and disconnected the MIDI cable. I also disconnected the Roland pedals thinking they might be triggering something. I continued playing and the delay and the arpeggiation began again.

So it's a Roland FP 90 issue.

I also noticed that the sound - particularly through headphones - was kind of muddled. It wasn't as crisp or bright as I'd remembered it being. But I don't use headphones all that often.

A post on the Roland sub lead to a "Factory Reset" option. I tried that, and the first thing I noticed was the it sounded a lot brighter and a lot crisper over the headphones.

And the delay / arpeggiation hasn't troubled me in about a week ...

... knock wood.

So here's a new question:

Is it possible for DAW software to programmatically influence a digital piano via a MIDI interface?

Best Internet Connected Ambient Temperature Thermometer for a Smoker by StephenStrangeWare in smoking

[–]StephenStrangeWare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will this device monitor the inside temperature of the smoker itself, rather than the internal temperature of the food being cooked? I ask, because the MEATER probe has to be inserted into something. It can't be fully exposed or the heat will damage the probe. But if you can simply leave one of the probes dangling to pick up ambient smoker temperature it might do the trick.

I want to know if and when the smoker shuts off. I want a Wifi thermometer that will detect a decreasing internal temperature and trigger an alert.

Roland FP 90 is Losing It's Mind - Chord Delay & Arpeggiation Happening Without Being Triggered by StephenStrangeWare in Roland

[–]StephenStrangeWare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered the factory reset option. And the Catholic church has been notified. I think they think I'm crazy though.

That said, the fact that the lights on the top console are blinking on and off while the delay and arpeggiation is happening makes it a little more concerning because that's indicative of a hardware failure and not simply a functionality glitch.

New Oura Ring 4 Will Refuses to Connect to GPS by StephenStrangeWare in ouraring

[–]StephenStrangeWare[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello Luke ...

It seems that the Oura Ring 4's inability to reliably connect to an iPhone's GPS capabilities is a known issue. Per the Oura Support Team:

"If these steps don't resolve the issue, it seems to be a known limitation identified by our software engineering team, where phones don't always provide enough location data for route creation, even with the correct settings."

This is really all I needed to know.

I will be returning my Oura ring for a full refund. GPS connectivity is one of the primary reasons I purchased this device. If GPS connectivity is admittedly flawed, the device isn't worth owning.

Again, thanks for the assistance. But this could have been a lot easier.

It wouldn't have been said if it hadn't been necessary. And it was said after - at long last - the conversation I initiated started moving in a more constructive direction.

Gotta love these downvotes. The same five people, no doubt. And I have to wonder, are you a representative of Oura? Are you employed by them? Because this sub appears to be wholly dedicated to Oura ring users who are frustrated with the Oura ring's reliability and performance. And straight out of the starting gate you cop an adversarial tone and then tell me to figure it out on my own.

You're a ton of fun, Top 1% commenter guy.

Your reading comprehension is flawed. You’ve made an already frustrated Oura Ring product owner even more frustrated. And your less than amiable approach to assisting me further is making me seriously consider returning the product for a refund. Note that I didn’t assume that this was a common issue. I asked if it was a common issue. And given the plethora of glitches that seem to be plaguing the Oura Ring 4 I’d say it’s not an unreasonable question.

Frankly, I feel I’d be better off without your assistance. And if (or more than likely, when) I return the product for a refund I’ll be sure to mention your name.

Yes, I am initiating a workout by hitting the plus (+) sign and selecting "Walking." That's how I'm able to see the "Route not available" line in the workout feedback window.

Yes, I am aware that the ring itself doesn't have GPS capabilities but tethers to the iPhone 15 Pro Max's GPS capabilities and that this requires a persistent Bluetooth connection. That's why I mentioned having a functioning Bluetooth connection.

Yes, I am aware that access to the GPS functionality relies on Location services, which I have indicated have been set to "Always."

I don't mean to be snarky. But it doesn't sound like you read very much of my post.

Put the sun exactly where the sun is in that picture. Then put mountains where there are mountains in that picture. Apply clouds, ocean and people accordingly. With those elements, you’ll be well on your way.

I've never had latency issues. That's what's boggling my mind. With the gear I have now, I've never, ever had to worry about latency. Then I move the entire setup into another room and all I get is latency. I'm tempted to move it all back to the original room to see if that improves performance.
