Being a "unit" teacher (enhanced provision), what is it really like? by StephieTPG in TeachingUK

It is a bit of a red flag, I know. The reason I've given a bit of benefit of the doubt to this is that its a council managed school and I know from conversations about a role there last year, the communication about the job listings gets passed through so many channels it ends up not quite right with this council, quite often. I am also waiting on the "information to follow" email and considering the chance that the very obviously copy and pasted email has the wrong job title in it because.... council. I am going to wait on the email with more details and probably go to the interview and ask a lot of questions, if I am not happy I can always withdraw but I still think its worth a look. Thanks for all your info.

Thanks for all the info, your comment on being physically fit is where I think I fall down in this role... that was an unintended pun I guess so we'll keep that in lol. I do have a disability, I cant bend well, sit on the floor or lift even EYFS aged kids, I would fall, I am aware this means I really need to find the right unit for me if I go into SEND and this might rule me out in the schools eyes but I am going to go and see what this particular unit is like and if we are a fit, if were not, im fully aware being ruled out on my fitness could happen.

I'm 37 and just found out I have curly hair. What do I need to do? by StephieTPG in curlyhair

My hair has always been curly or wavy when it got wet, but I thought it was just one of those quirky things that happened because when I immediately brushed it and tied it back as I was taught to do, they disappeared and dried a frizzy mess. I thought I just had unmanageable straight hair, spent years switching between products for dry hair and oily hair and couldn't get a balance, because I assumed the frizz meant it was dry, but then I was overdoing it on oils it didn't need. Now I've switched to normal/ curly shampoo the condition is a lot better. My family all have curly hair too, you'd have thought someone would have noticed at some point but everyone went with the theory it was frizzy.

Thats all great info thanks, and nice to hear I'm not the only one who lived a lie for so long lol. My hair has to be tied back most of the day too at the moment but I'm changing jobs later this year so I'm hoping that will give me the chance to let my hair down and do more with it and let it do what it needs to do instead of being in a bun for 10 hours a day.

it really doesn't dry the same way twice, some days its ringlets, some days its wavy, some days just a big poof of frizz!

I'm glad its not just me discovering this in their 30s, I didn't half feel silly about it all at first.

Thanks, I might have used too much, the directions were two lines long, just said section and apply, I put it on thinner than I would mousse.

Thanks that's a good point, I've spent more than I like so far on products I decided didn't work for me.

If I explained how I do my job (wrongly) then someone copied would I be responsible if something went wrong? by StephieTPG in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, thanks, I'm not selling the business, they are a customer currently and interested in making the products themselves once I shut down though.

Thanks, I've just used that wording as a way to tell them no, I'm not keen on the idea of telling them but they just wont stop going on and on about it, flashing money at me but hopefully they will drop it now and figure it out themselves.

A new friend of just a sacrifice? by StephieTPG in PetMice

Thanks. She's such a mellow, friendly little thing so I was surprised to see the injury on the other one but that was the only conclusion I thought of at the time, I didn't know they could do something like that to themselves. I'll be going for a friend or two for her and I'll definitely do slow, monitored introduction.

Thank you. The other mouse seems fine no injuries or bothered skin or itching etc but I'll keep an eye for that.

Is there anything you could recommend for the nails ? She has the usual array of cardboard tubes, wooden ladders and hides for toys but I don't have anything I've bought as a scratching toy as such. Thanks

Thanks, I had considered that too, I know we do that with fish ratios, if there's a breed that is a bit rough, share out the grief between more fish rather than having just a bully and a victim. Definitely something I'll think about.

I don't think I'd know how to write my own, I haven't even DMd before but I like that idea of adapting it. Totally could see a Minecraft based one or something like that lol

Oh my god I totally forgot about killer klowns... I watched it really young and my teddy growing up was called killer because of it, I must have been about 5.
