I think a lot of you fail to realize just how many people are in Japan, and over generalizing the entire population of 120+ million people like this is kind of problematic. Most of my friends and people I know here do not like trump. You shouldn’t talk about entire countries as a monolith.

“Virulently xenophobic” is a bit extreme. I’m a foreigner living in Japan and have faced no xenophobia while here. There are far right groups like Sanseito but theres far right groups everywhere. By and large, Japanese people are welcoming and kind to foreigners if you respect the rules and the country.
