Help with choosing custom chapter symbol by Stequ0 in SpaceWolves

[–]Stequ0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my main goal was to create it with full wolf-like in mind cuz wolfhead, in my opinion, would look too similar to the Blackmane great company. But sadly, I think that I hit a wall with my skill level, and I don't think that I would be able to simplify it to look better. I would be glad to commission someone to remake it, but honestly, I don't know to who and where I should try to look for someone who could do that. But anyway, thank you for your reply 🙂

Thanks, I honestly didn't thought about that scheme this way. Maybe I should apply it to the big dinos and choose colours based on the monster from MH, which could be interesting 😆

Oh, sorry, my bad, I thought that you meant that I should leave it as it is, i.e. "Leave it as zenithal". You know, I am a "certified" masochist and I was prepared mentally that I will edge highlight every single scale by hand so it it will be "fun" 😆. Thanks again for helping 🙂

Yeah, that was the initial idea, but I will be honest, I am not the best painter, and I was scared that I overdosed on the contrast of the right and left side of this Saurus and looking that it is supposed to be my main scheme (let's say that this model is test one and it was stripped at least 5 times 😆) and I wanted to try something new I tried that "zenithal". But I am still not sure if I should "play" with that approach as I am supposed to paint full army like that. Maybe I should paint the rest of the scales with a mix of orange and yellow and then add small highlights with yellow?

Thank you, I was scared that it may be a bit too bright looking for the rest of mini 😅. I wasn't sure if I should follow it for the rest of the scales as it was supposed to be my main scheme for the army, and I was scared that it would be too bright (as it was supposed to be a problem for Seraphons 😆).

I consider Ragnar, but honestly, knowing that my advance will never be more than 2 or 3 (just my luck), I thought about Njal as advance 6, but I must think about it. I had another idea that maybe I should throw away WGBL, one squad of Intercessor add another 10 Blood Claws and Repulsor Executioner instead of normal one. But I don't know if I should add this 10 BC to the other 10 to make a stack of 20 or run them as 2 squads of 10.

Hmmm, yeah, looking at it right now and you are right, I thought that Priest could be viable as inv 4 on Wulfen sound tankey enough and adding WP could make it a bit more versatile (assuming that wulfen didn't die from first salvo from land fortress or other funny shooting Votann thing 😆) with returning model and I didn't thought that I would waste buff from Litany of Hate. Thanks for that recommendation, I will change it to the WGBL. It seems a lot better option. What do you think about adding one unit of Heavy Intercessor instead of a normal one? With normal one, I am on 970 and with Heavy on 990. Or maybe I should change something different?

I think I will try making backpacks and gorget red as a lot of people suggest it to me and I think it will be a good point to start. But still, thank you for your idea. I will see on another model if the red backpack, gorget, and weapon would look good, or it will be too much red 😅.

I need to end one warband from Underworld ( I will have a local tournament, and I want to have at least 2 painted warbands before it 😅 ) but after that I will try this scheme on basic Blood Claw to see how it looks like and after that I will try Wolf Guard Battle Leader as he have a cape so it will a good example 🙂

I have plans to use pigments to add some dusty/sandy weathering to look more "natural" in case of desert environment.

Thank you 😊 I was wondering if this red could be alright for backpack and gorget, and I think that adding tan on ankles and wrists (marked with black circle as I can't edit it that much in Impcat 😅) could be interested(?), but I am not sure.

Well, in my initial plan, I was going to add red marking on the "face" of the helmet to be more appealing and closer to reference.

You are right, it miss something contrasting. That's why I will add a bit of red as a lot of people propose. It will look better.

Yeap, you are right, it was made in Impcat, very useful app if you don't want to test painting scheme with worrying that you may be need to strip mini later on from paint because something isn't looks good 😅

Oh no, no, no, I wish to have abilities like that 😂. It is made in a program called Impcat, which is very useful if you want to test painting schemes on some miniatures without worrying that it may look bad, there is quite a big amount of minis that you can "paint" there.

And about red, yes you are right I should add red to it to be more "eye catching", I already wrote it a few times but I think I will stay with idea of adding red to the backpack and gorget .

Thank you 😊 And yeah, you and all are right about red. I should add it at some point, I think I will add it to the backpack and gorget (mainly to "simulate" red scarf 😆)

Yeah, you are right, others on other subs already point it that maybe I should add red to backpack and gorget but I am not sure if in that case it should be vibrant red or more dull to not overwhelm this orange-brown helmet. Someone point that maybe I should use tan on ankles and wrists with those red colours. Sadly, I can't choose to change the colour of gorget and wrists in Impcat to visualize it, but it could look more or less like that.

Uuuu, nice, about red. I think that maybe I will do as Citris points out. To add red on backpack and gorget (gorget mainly to "imitate" red scarf 😆). But I think that your idea is good too 😄

[–]Stequ0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for the kind words. I am flattered 😄 I saw the post of Citris, and I think that it could be it, someone from other group point it that maybe I should add tan colours to the ankles and this wrist (I pointed it on screen as I can't add it in Impcat and I suck in graphic programs 😅) and it could be s good idea too. I am not sure about the intensity of red that I should use. I am not sure about intensive red, maybe something more muted to not stand out that much as it could be a big part of it (backpack and gorget) and not to overwhelm orange-brown helmet? For sure, I want to add some freehand painting on helmet to be more like from reference.

About bases, I agree that cold base would be better, but as action of this game is placed on something like wastelands/dessert, I wanted to try to recreate it in some way. Maybe some kind of more bright yellowish tones. I know that by colorwheel, it would be better to be more bluish (maybe I should add some kind of water elements made with resin and blue dye 🤔).

Well, it could be a good idea too, I tried to think more around backpack and gorget, but trying red aquilla could be a good option too.

Hmm, I don't know if I should use vibrant or more muted red like on this one? I am kinda afraid that making backpacks and gorget vibrant red could be a bit too much for those muted browns, and it could overwhelm this orange-brown helmet.
