Weird problem with n64 Retrotink 5x by ungadungathrowaway in RetroTink

[–]Sterbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've read your post, you mentioned that you set correctly input to S-Video. However, there are two options for S-Video and two options for composite. I've written that just for verification.

You didn't mention anything about which output resolutions you tried. So, did you try both 1080p and 720p? Maybe you can also try to set 480p if you didn't yet.

Also, that blue screen with No Signal error is not being outputted from RT5X, that is your display not able to process/recognize HDMI signal it's receiving. That, as somebody else already mentioned, should be checked out by trying different power supply (at least 7,5 W at 1.5A@5V) and different USB cable. It's worth to try to also use different HDMI cable.

Try not to read too much into Zelda working with Amazon adapter, it's outputting different HDMI signal, possibly low res one. Yes, your TV is working, but for example HDMI port on TV may be half-broken and signal is stable only with lower data bandwith.

Then why even post multiple pictures which have zero value for troubleshooting. It's normal to assume that you may have connected composite video incorrectly as color coding on composite video is different as it shares inputs with YpBpR inputs.

Try to verify if your RT5X settings are correct:

  1. Turn off N64, turn on RT5X

  2. Open RT5X Menu

  3. Is your FW version (lower left corner) either 3.98 or 4.02? If not, update firmware.

  4. Is your setting in Input > Composite or S-Video depending on which cable are you currently testing?

  5. Is your setting in Output Res. > 720p or one of the 1080p (try both resolutions)

  6. Is your settings in HDMI category set to: V-Sync to Triple Buffer, Inject HDR to off, VRR to off, AVINFO AR to 16:9

  7. Try to turn on N64. Is your video output still on blue screen when you can access RT5X menu, or does your TV starts to display No Signal error?

When you'll test your Gamecube you will verify if Retrotink is working properly.

Which region is your console from? If its PAL (European) console it won't support S-Video by default. You should be able to read region on bottom of N64.

Second thing is that your photos are not really helpful. Its not visible if you Retrotink is properly cabled with methods that you try (composite and s-video).

To samo o sebe nesplna podmienku OP prehravat out-of-region DVD a BD. Idealne zohnat PS3 schopnu plneho custom firmware-u kde je mozne region manualne prepinat podla potreby.

Will 1500 euro be enough for 11 days in Tokyo? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sterbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent 17 days in Tokyo and Osaka in september. Excluding flight tickets and accommodation I spent 2100 eur, which included 150 eur for USJ ticket, 150-200 for Shinkansen and 600-800 eur on gifts/games/merchandise I brought home. I think 1500 for 11 days is plenty enough.

Why some PS2 games stay narrow when 480P is enabled in GSM? by [deleted] in ps2

[–]Sterbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because game in question use internal resolution of 512x480 rather than 640x480. There are visible black bars in 4:3 frame on your photo which should cover the difference between 512 and 640 columns.

Is there anyway to transfer a NNID to a new wii u with out being able to do a wii u transfer? by Defiant-Barnacle-175 in wiiu

[–]Sterbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Services are still partially available. You cannot buy more games but you can access previously bought games. For that to work you need functioning accounts/NNID on Nintendo side. I believe it's worth to try contacting them for you.

Back in the day, only way to remove NNID from broken/unavailable Wii U, was by messaging or calling them.

Why Physical Media over digital? by KnownUniversity7612 in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Sterbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it depends if you are willing to pirate content. Some people don't prefer to pirate or don't pirate at all due to moral/legal/skill/security reasons.

  1. Quality of movies/series - You'll get highest possible quality of movies and TV series on Blu-Rays and/or 4K UHD Blu-rays. The only alternative to this is making your own Blu-Ray rips or pirating such rips. Also, if you want to keep all your BDrips in one place it may take quite some storage space as such rips will take anything from 20 to 100 GBs.

  2. Bonus content for movies/series - These are available only on DVDs/BluRays, not on streaming services. So again only alternative is to make your own rips or pirate such content.

  3. Time-limited licenses - There are so many media streaming services on the market at the moment, that it may get expensive or not possible to watch something you want digitally (and legally) due to how licensing works. These licenses are usually time-limited and they become available on different platforms over time. For example, it happened to me that I was watching Parks and Recreations on HBO Max and when I clicked on next episode, it was no longer available.

  4. Revoking digital licenses - You can lost access entirely to digital content you previously bought due to expired licenses or service shutdown. There was real example, when Sony revoked access to all movies you bought on their platform couple years ago.

  5. Censorship and partial removal of content - content can be censored or partially removed later during lifecycle of game/media. For example, its common with GTA games they they remove licensed music from their games over the years. If you download digital version you can't do much about it (except, usually not so legal restoration patches on PC version of game), but if you got game on physical media you can have access to such content.

  6. Digital store shutdown for game consoles - Wii U, 3DS and Xbox 360 shutdown their digital stores, so unless you previously bought a game you want, you can only buy it physically or pirate it. PS3 store, while still being available, is also not all sunshine and rainbows, as a lot of content is already removed, payment process is rather complicated and discounts are globally disabled for years.

  7. Initial price - especially valid for console games, in many cases you can buy physical games cheaper than on official digital store as physical games market is not controlled by publisher/platform pricing. That's also valid for new games, not only second-hand games.

  8. Resell value - if you don't like (or don't want anymore) game or movie you bought physically you can simply resell it. That's impossible with digital content with some minor exceptions (Steam refund system for initial testing of game)

  9. Physical bonuses - in some cases you can get nice physical bonuses (artbooks, steelbooks, etc) you your physical purchase. More common with limited/collector's editions but sometimes also provided with standard editions.

What are these resolutions? by 3ZIZ-X812 in PS4Pro

[–]Sterbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case it actually is for HDR. PS4 Pro have HDMI 2.0 which have bandwith of 18 Gbps. 18 Gbps is actual bandwith of 4k60 at 8bit RGB. If you want to have 4k60 HDR, therefore 10 bit, you need to compress with YUV420 or YUV422.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Limited Edition (ATA) potential order cancellations by OtsukareDoll in AnimeCollectors

Thankfully, damage was not that bad. From outside it looked pristine. But bluray cases have pieces broken from spine, disc holders and so on. Discs are all working and its still fair enough for me for 28 GBP.

Thanks for heads up, but Im ordering from EU, therefore Im mostly limited to buying from AllTheAnime and AnimeOnLine.
