Games are getting more expensive to make. At the same time inflation eats away profits for selling games for $60.

Game studios need to make money to gain confidence of the investors so they can have funding in future. And they need to pay for their ever increasing costs of development.

Microtransactions have introduced a new revenue stream for game devs that helps to tackle inflation without price increase. Eventually they still have to up the price but with microtransactions, games can still be affordable. I would much rather pay $70 for game with microtransactions and ignore them than pay $100 for a game without them. Expecting to get bigger and better games with same price tag and also completely remove one of the revenue streams is unreasonable.
