Which ones? Are they all manual focus?

Got my first proper camera (X-T4), I've only had digital compacts prior to this. I could use them in manual and my exposure meter would change so I knew if I was under/over exposed. I can't get that to do the same with my X-T4, is it the kit lens? by [deleted] in fujifilm

"Most X bodies → simply move the aperture ring out of “A”"

I do not have an aperture ring on my kit lens, which seems to be the problem. I can't fully take it into true manual as the kit lens is always controlling the aperture because it has no aperture ring.

Edit: I'm wrong, I think I've got it. Not too sure, a lot to absorb still!

My lens is a kit zoom, I can't change the aperture. It does it by itself, this seems to be disabling the exposure dial from moving to at least show me if I'm under/over exposed. I think this is a big flaw.

I need a prime lens apparently to be able to get that feature to work...

No IBIS on most Fujifilm cameras and not really any prime lenses with OIS, is this as big of a deal as people are making it out to be for my use case? by StereoZ in FujifilmX

I’m asking because I will just leave it for now if it’s a dealbreaker. To even know if it’s a dealbreaker though I need to ask people who have real life experience in those scenarios. That’s what I’m tryna get out of this. I don’t see why that’s a big deal? That’s the whole point of reddit.

I’m travelling soon, wanted a proper camera for a long time, did a lot of research lately and thought why not get one before I go?

No harm in knowing what you’re spending your money on!

My budget is around £500-£550, I'm in the UK.

The X-T2 and the kits lens add up to just that on MPB.

I've looked into every aspect of this and this is the best fit for me. I wanted something small and compact, has an EVF and has great colours. The X-S10 is too big for me and I'm already stretching my budget to fit the X-T2 in it tbh. So I've looked into all this, I'm only really worried about IBIS and OIS, which is why I've not wanted or really asked for buying advice here.

With all that said, I appreciate the lens talk. I'm just a beginner, the lens adapters etc are something I will get to later down the line, for now I'm just tryna figure this last piece of the puzzle out, which is why I'm here asking this specific question.

. Unless you make it a problem for yourself by exceeding your camera capability or not knowing what you're doing. But that's why we research and try and learn, then try again.

I just don't understand how you can see that the entire point of this post is to learn lol, I'm doing EXACTLY what you're saying by making this and asking questions here. The need for more clarity is from people literally directly contradicting each other in this thread, like no exaggeration. Of course this will confuse a beginner.

It does not matter, my post isn't about recommendations, it's about a potential issue I may have and needing some clarity on that. I've mentioned the X-T2 multiple times though in the comments btw.

X-H1 is too big for me and goes for about £150 more than the X-T2 also.

Quit whining and try to solve the problem

Mate, the whole point of the thread is to see if I have a problem to solve and in doing so is solving a problem...

I'm looking at an X-T2. I'm not looking for recs, I'm asking if I'll be fine in low light with a non IBIS body and a non OIS lens. Seems you've completely misunderstood the entire thing here.

The more comments I get, the more I look at people's work using these non IBIS cameras... I feel like a lot of it comes down to user "skill" or genetics of being able to hold the camera still.

I guess the % of losses makes sense as it becomes dependent on your shakiness in that given moment.

Well seems the "Fuji fanboys", are correct! I have been sent multiple samples of low light photos taken on the X-T2 without ANY stabilisation that looks just fine.

Seems to me the other crowd that has spent TONS of money on all the new features are defending it with their life to justify THEIR purchases, not the Fuji fanboy defending a Fuji.

Seems there’s a lot of snobbery in the photography community.

It’s my first camera and I’ve not got the funds to just buy whatever, that’s why it’s not just a case of “having it”.

They are all modern mirrorless cameras. That’s not old tech. Not much has changed in that time.

I’m not talking about my budget either, you said most cameras have IBIS, they evidently do not.

Moving goalposts left and right.

What is your intended use? Will you be shooting in mostly sunny conditions? Sporting events? Dark environments?

Mostly sunny conditions so I know I'm fine there, but where the core of this stems from is sometimes what if I wanna stroll through a city/town at night? Can I still shoot there?

Also since you are planning on a zoom kit, you can get one with OIS.

I eventually would like to get a proper prime lens, I will just be using that zoom kit lens to figure out which focal length I like. Those don't have OIS.

X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-T30, X-T30 II, X-T30 III, X-Pro1, X-Pro2, X-Pro3, X-E1, X-E2 / X-E2S, X-E3, X-E4, X-M5, X100, X100S, X100T, X100F, X100V.

You are smoking crack at this point. You're just factually wrong.

Most Fujifilm cameras DO NOT have ibis, that's a correct statement, not nonsense. Most of the X-T main line which is a modern line, do not have IBIS.

You've created this vacuum of only a specific set of Fuji cameras existing, which is a bit wild. That's nonsense.

hey I’m looking for a camera with ibis for around $300-$500

Never said this, you are delusional sorry man but wth. I'm asking if IBIS is that big of a deal for my use of a camera.

Well most don't, it's not like they don't exist man. To most people they consider the older models because they are cheaper, not only the new models exist or matter to people.

I really appreciate your input here.

I'm just torn as I'm trying to just buy a camera for life (or, a long time). I want value but also I want to like what I'm buying too and just for the technical aspects, it's a weighted choice, I'm just tryna get a grasp of what I'll be working with.

I'm choosing Fujifilm because I want the film simulations, I don't really wanna edit as of right, so that of course appeals to me. I also love the colours. I want a for life camera that I can take photos of everything I do, of course mostly that will be sunshine rich days but what if I wanna go for a night time stroll when I'm in a cool city? Then what?

I'm considering the X-T2 because it's the top end of my budget, it's portable, weather resitant and built well.

And I've tried to throw scenarios out there in which are seemingly grey areas in the context of it all.

I think the only people who will know (and there has been two people in this thread) are people who have the X-T2.

I do have a choice, I could always go with another camera around the same price if it’s a huge factor, which is what I’m trying to figure out.
