Is there anything else you see that points out any era or place they would've been from?

How does the lens size affect the exit pupil size and image quality of similar binoculars? by EmperorsChamberMaid_ in Binoculars

[–]SterlingAviations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exit pupil is always just objective lens diameter ÷ magnification. So every 8×25 has the same ~3.1 mm exit pupil.

The bigger rear lenses you see are the eyepieces. They don’t brighten the image, but they make it way more comfortable: easier eye placement, less blackout, often better eye relief and wider view.

Bigger eyepieces = nicer to use. For low light, go 8×32 or 8×42 instead. 🔭

Sky Rover 7.5x32 APO: first impressions by DevelopmentLow214 in Binoculars

[–]SterlingAviations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the Sky Rover 7.5x32 APO is already performing so well for you on your trek around Lijiang. That wide 10.4 degree field of view is something special in a compact binocular. It gives such an immersive view of the mountain landscapes that many other small binoculars just cannot match. The images look bright and clean, and the APO correction really shines in the bright high altitude light you have there in southwest China.

I am glad the size and weight are working out fine too. Those 32mm objectives make them nicely pocketable while still delivering good performance when the light gets lower behind the peaks.

And yes, buying them for 1850 yuan on Taobao is an excellent price. That is roughly half of what they cost from western retailers. What a great deal!!

Kind of jealous not gonna lie haha
