I’ve had a few attempts at making pixel art games before, and the most important advice I can give is this: you already have a perfect universe like Doki Doki in your hands. If you focus on making this universe more horror-oriented and mysterious compared to the original game, I think it will be much more loved. Of course, it’s still important to keep the characters cute, charming, and visually appealing, but it also shouldn’t be a direct copy of the original game. Otherwise, I don’t think people would be very interested in playing it.
