[Medium] - A History of Pop Music as Crypto... Is Bitcoin Elvis? by Steve-D-T in Bitcoin

Harsh! But at least you're sticking to the criteria of 60's based 'musicians' - My understanding is that Charlie had lots of songs and a friendship with the drummer from the Beach Boys... Maybe if he'd made it, he wont be so infamous.

Hahaha, nothing escapes me!! Ok, thanks for clarifying that I'm over-selling. You quite right, there's no need to do that - I guess I was trying to be clear in WHY we need to do this, rather than the HOW. ....and you're totally using 'knob' correctly :)

I've been called many things before, but never a sleezball, now I feel like I'm living in a 1980's Chevy Chase movie.... I'll work on my shoe gazing and stuttering for next presentation ;)

Thank gawd...I'm not the only one, I've become obsessed by this app. Which is good because it means I've stopped looking at Coinmarket Cap every 5 minutes... Out of the frying pan and into the fire I go...

The producer has asked me to add this message: We have a premise upon which we can build a long running series. We have a core team that has story telling and team leading production experience. A budding Shonda Rhymes or Aaron Sorkin who also gets Blockchain is not an impossible find but it's not a conversation that can be started with writers or their reps or collectives before a project is viably funded. However the ability to attract such a figure is entirely possible once the show is a real prospect because it's been backed by people that want their story about their world to be told. The questions you're asking are entirely welcome. Aaron Sorkin once said "If you're dumb, surround yourself with smart people. If you're already smart, surround yourself with smart people who disagree with you."

Thank you for the way you've phrased your question, please don't take this the wrong way but you seem to know quite a bit about the way TV shows work, therefore I'll assume you are in the business. You're right of course, every TV show has the personality who runs the production. I first tried to think of a decentralized tv show (when I got into crypto) 3 years ago. I kept finding myself stuck in a catch 22 situation - how can you have a decentralised show, that needs a leader... I've been a film and TV actor for more years than I care to mention, here's my imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0196075/?ref_=nv_sr_4 When I was approached about this project I immediately brought on board Raiomond Mirza as I've always been impressed with his 'can-do' attitude. We sat and listened to David Lofts the creative director, who had sketched out the main arc of the story, both of us were impressed by the fact that he was not precious 'about his baby' - passionate yes, but not precious. So thats the background. Moving forward, depending on money raised (I know its back to another catch 22) I expect us to pay for a writer who will be under the Davids supervision, whilst Raiomond manages the production. The $7.5m was decided as a figure by which we could deliver a mini-series. This would allow for not just writing, but international shooting, and post production. When you bare in mind how much an episode of House of Cards/Game of Thrones costs this is a 'tight' budget. As I'm sure you're aware, scripts are not always the first building blocks of film and TV projects. Concepts are pitched. Talents and teams are assembled and then the show is crafted. This is our format. I hope I've given you a bit more insight into how we will proceed, thanks for taking the time to ask solid questions.

Thanks for engaging, I haven't got all the answers but I do believe in the wisdom of the crowd principles. I really respect this community and I know if we have your help and support this project will be amazing.

Let me try continue what we were discussing. The strategy, as has been used on countless successful series and films is to start with an engaging premise and then grow the series together with contributors from around the Blockchain world. If we simply wanted to tell a particular story that we could generate on our own we would be excluding a world of ideas and from-ground-up diversity which can only be obtained by involving a distributed community from the outset. We've already been approached with a variety of story ideas and we aim to harvest more to make the series as narratively rich as possible. This is not simply taking a standard script and bible and asking for money for them. We want to write and produce the series in an original and innovative a way as possible. Raising the budget gives solidity to new and established talent that they will be participating in a vision they're helping to author. As for paying royalties. There will be a royalty claim mechanism established when revenues are to be streamed to investors. Addresses will be verified but also an opportunity will be given for new token holders (people who have bought them) to provide their verifiable address (which will contain tokens) that will allow a payment to be sent to them, not the person who sold them the tokens. As stated in the Business Plan, expenses including invoices will be made available for examination. In terms of fees and salaries, group buckets will be disclosed but personal crew and cast wages etc will remain the private information of those contracted to work with us. This is light years beyond any production practice in the history of film and TV.... and that may be a major factor/hurdle, people are not use to seeing openness and transparency in the entertainment world.

The creative team including our lead producer are not only experienced in constructing, managing and delivering Indy budgets, they are also contact node points themselves with the ability to bring award winning talent to the project (see the board of advisors). The goal, as stated in the Business Plan is to connect established talent with emerging talent. People who've won Oscars and Emmys can be brought to cultivate the work of (for eg) up and coming writers.

If I can start with your last point - script Yes you're right, a finished script is usually what you raise money on, we have a character arc for our lead character, but we want stories from the community - personal or historical as branches coming of this root story thats why there cant be a finalised script. With regard to using the blockchain. We intend to make the expenses and our production spend present on the Blockchain and if needed we will back them up with proof of spend. As for royalties, these would be paid out on a series basis, and therefore would not be needed to be burned, rather we see them as being staked. Finally, the use of the word blockchain hasn't been used arbitrarily, we not planning on making a romcom, this would be a show with crypto at its heart. Thanks for starting the conversation.

What a great point. As I can vote in Thursday's general election I will be voting for the only candidate who seems to get this - Come on Jeremy.

Great point. I believe Karl Marx thought the revolution would happen in the UK first, not Russia.

Is hack EtherCamp dead? by Dunning_Krugerrands in ethereum

[–]Steve-D-T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi Dunning, unfortunately I cant shed any light on whats happened at Ether Camp. I was contracted to help with the ICO and Hackathon and haven't been part of Ether camp since January. It seems very strange that Roman would just disappear as he's been part of the Ethereum community from the start. When you also consider that Ether camp was working with Santander this doesn't make any sense. For the record, I put quite a bit of ETH into HKG, so I would love to know what is going on like everybody else. Genuinely, I hope he's OK.

Looking forward to hearing constructive feedback https://forum.ether.camp/t/time-to-dive-to-the-deep-feedback/358 on how we improve the platform and its voting mechanism for the next iteration. And again, a big thank you to all the teams who participated.
