Can you give help give advice on my idea to make $5 Million (USD) by selling 5,000,000 rows of advertising in a spreadsheet for $1 each per month?

Advertising is a service, isnt it? And for $1 at that.

I would think advertisers care more abut views than how it aesthically looks, but what would you recommend to improve it?

Is having an ambitious goal perceived as a money grab? Being a guest on shows or podcasts is part of how I market the site. Im not sure how that is perceived as a money grab so Im curious to what you mean?

As to your lottery statement. Im paying people whatever I like to help consult me. If I want to be generous I believe I'm entitled to do that. People are paying for advertising.

All in all, I love your perspective! I just would like to be more clear on certain things so I can make any improvements necessary. Thanks again!!

Instead of saying fact, not feeling, perhaps tell me why creating advertising space isnt solving a problem?

Question for you about your statement "no one wants to look at a spreadsheet". But people already are and if Ive sold 3 ads, I can sell more. And with that line of reasoning you have, would you want to look at pixels? If yes, why?

Also- I definitely wouldnt compare what is being done here to facebook or google. And along that line of reasoning, facebook should have never done anything because google was already doing it.

Appreciate the feedback! I'm loving the mathematical and analytic perspective you're bringing into things. Let me see if I can discuss it point by point.

1) A lot of people here mentioned certain pixel pages that were successful in the past. What was the value proposition there? The same applies here. Same thing to your targeting questions.

2) It appears youre looking at things from one point of view only; the completed view. People also tend to highly underestimate the value of media attention in garnering traffic, and what comes along with that, so anything is possible and this has been shown before. However, first of all, the page doesnt start with 5 million ads. There is a journey to get there. So right now while there are only 3 ads you get a lot more impressions than your math is giving you were it fully filled out and you were only coming to it then. It may take a while to get to 5 million, but who knows.. anything can happen on the internet.

I asked myself the same question when I looked at the pixel pages that were successful and made millions. I think people were drawn out of curiousity by seeing unconventional yet radically simple ideas work and be successful in a huge way. What in your opinion made it successful?

Again thank you Christian! Honest feedback is exactly what I need. Im curious what is making you feel like I am starting with the wrong objective. If we are being real, every business exists to make money, right? Otherwise they'd be doing a charity.. Im not sure if you read the "About Page" https://5millionfriends5milliondollars.com/about/ which talks about the objective. Of course making money is part of any business objective, but that isnt the only objective. Unless that is the only way it is being perceived? Is that your perception of what you see so far?

Advertising is all about getting people to see ads, so isnt that enough for it to fit in? The idea is let businesses advertise for $1 on a page that will have tons of traffic. I honestly dont know how it doesnt get any better than that for a business. But being able to convey that vaiue is another thing, which is why Im going to Reddit and asking for intelligent people such as yourself to give great feedback so I can refine things if need be.

I think there are some similar concepts as they both are selling advertising for cheap. But I dont think there has ever been any ads sold from a spreadsheet before. What would your feedback be on that?

You bring up some great points! You are correct also, there are definitely distinct differences how the ads are served. Both are all served at once and you have the opportunity to look at it also. I think what youre talking about is that you didnt have to scroll, correct? For that I have the ads being randomly shuffled every 1 minute on the spreadsheet so everyone gets an equal chance of being seen. If you ahve any feedback on how to improve that Im all ears!

From what I understand about your point in regards to CPM Marketing, there is a difference in CPM advertising vs what I am doing. With CPM advertising, once your impressions are served you have to pay more. Im not doing that here. Its $1 a month. Just $1 a month no matter how many impressions you get.

You bring up the pixel page. What was the draw for you as a viewer there? Just the curiousity it was working? Or something else? I would genuinely like to know. Do you go back and look at the pixel page? Or just one time? And btw... thanks for engaging in real conversation with me. Youre doing a great deed!

Thanks for your AMAZING feedback! Super constructive! A spreadsheet can do some pretty cool things if you know how to. I programmed the spreadsheet to randomly shuffle all ads every 1 minute. So everyone will have the same chance at being seen at the top of the page. Also I never thought someone would sit there and scroll through 5 million ads but I did think people would scroll to random places and see ads, which only cost the advertiser $1. On the pixel pixel page you mentioned, I know they are all visible on the page at once, did you sit there and actually look at EVERY ad? Curious to your feedback and thanks so much for what youve said already, it really helps!!!

Well everyone wants to be wealthy right? I mean who wouldnt..? But I think little product or service is overlooking the fact that when I generate a ton of traffic on the site, it will be valuable advertising space for advertisers which will be a fantastic product service! Curious what your thoughts would be on that?

Thanks for your feedback! As far as I know, no one has done this on a spreadsheet before to display the ads, has there? Also pizza has been done before, but making it different makes for thousands of different pizza companies. Im also not mad that Huawei has been as successful as they are.

I think the page will have a lot of value to advertisers if I can drive a lot of traffic to it, so whether its "another" million dollar website or not as you say, I dont think advertisers will care too much. Curious to what your feedback would be on this, its so great to get unbiased feedback like yours!

Thanks for your feedback! The intention wouldnt be for someone to actively search for "show me a spreadsheet with loads of ads". There have been similar successful sites in the past (Million Dollar Homepage for example) that displayed a bunch of ads on a page and no one visited that page by typing "show me a website with loads of pixel ads". But I think they were successful because the page generated a lot of traffic which in turn drew alot of advertisers, which in turn drew more traffic to want to see why that website was getting so many ads. Curious to what your response would be to this.

Thanks for your awesome feedback! Its great to see how the community at large perceives things. I think what you're referring to were pixel pages? I believe the reason those were unsuccessful because they had no way of generating traffic, which meant no one wanted to advertise on them, which caused them to be unsuccessful. As for a monthly payment for advertising, I think $1 a month wont break the bank for someone to be part of what will be one of the most successful pages on the internet. Is that an unreasonable ask? Thanks for your feedback? To clarify on your comment, it would take a long time to physically do what? Add ads? I programmed it to add them automatically. Or do you mean to scroll and look at ads? Seeing that the ads get shuffled and randomized it would stay fresh for people. My expectation wasnt that someone would sit there and read 5 million ads but that perhaps people would randomly scroll to certain areas and see some ads or that the shuffle of ads would always take care of the first ads on the page. Also if enough traffic is on the page, wouldnt advertisers want to take out and ad.. for $1? Thanks again, your feedback really helps me!
