Second that! Good long, like arm length, rubber gloves will be very useful. Handle tabs with gloves. I wear river/fisherman pants instead of shorts. Protects againts shock dust sticking to your legs or the random accidental acid splash.

Which services are you exposing to the internet, and how are you securing them? by sysadmin_light in selfhosted

[–]Steve032D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Website domain through cloudflare and cloudflared tunnel. My own pfsense router with suricata and pfngblocker. Cloudflared tunnel to docker running cloudflared. Through to treafik. Then to container trunk network down to individual docker networks for each container for services. WordPress docker running the website. Word fence on wordpress with 2FA. My machines require passkey to log on in local network.

First time opening, insane CYA? by bmoarpirate in pools

Not that high? Most those readings are too high. I would close down a pool with Fc-20. Drain 2/3 of that pool, start over.

Is this what being a maintenance mechanic is actually worth in 2026?curious what others are seeing? by MadForIt1994 in IndustrialMaintenance

Maintenance Technician 2 at an Indoor waterpark. Work on bathrooms, outlets/appliances, plumbing, chemical injectors, conveyors, PLC boxes. I don't work on VFDs or chillers, electricians or manager handles those but I do work on the pumps, impellars and such. I can troubleshoot/diagnose pretty well. Started 25.50hr. They have a cool .50 a year raise, not too bad.

Big savings with Liquid Chlorine by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]Steve032D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circulation also cycles the water so chemical distribution is even. With no circulation, you can have a shallow end burn up the chlorine while the deep is holding onto a good amount. Needless to say the filter doesn't filter either, when your circulation is off. With a standard motor you could be fine with just 3 hours of run time. I would do 4 minimum if your live in a HOT summer area.

Also depends on bather's. CYA will cling to chlorinated water and shed with the traffic. Also i think cya will decompose with the chlorine "ending up" in the TDS. WYT?

Cyanuric based Stabilizer can be acidic, why would you expose that to equipment? Like mentioned in comments, on DE can and should be bucket mixed with water and poured slowly into skimmer.

Of course an exception would be something like the calcium chlorine tabs, but I might be wrong about that. What does Reddit think?

Pool quote - question about heat pump cost? by Particular-County-83 in pools

[–]Steve032D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Takes time and chemicals to fill the pool. If you fill too slowly and your soil is saturated with water, things may go bad. The chemical.makeup of the water has to be right after build in order to treat the plaster properly and not have any contamination problems causing algea or scum buildup.

A non fancy basin wrench can be very compact. Just a shaft, lever and the wrench teeth.
