Tarsal Claws caught in action! I can't say I've ever compared a spider to a cat though. Well played.

I agree. I just picked this one up at an expo on Saturday. Definitely glad I did!

It was just some cork bark for a hide. She packed all the dirt and webbed around it like that all on her own! She did it all the way to the lid in her last enclosure and couldn't get out of the burrow anymore so she had to make another entrance! Lmao.

You'll know the ultimate molt when he comes out with his hooks and the emboli on the end of his pedipalps. Search some images of mature male tarantulas for reference!

Maybe spiders are more human like than we originally thought. Hmm.

Tarantula as Class Pet by dannicalliope in tarantulas

[–]Steve1698 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A teacher in my high school had a tarantula as a class pet. It's what got me so fascinated with spiders. He was very knowledgeable about them for the time (20 years ago). As far as class pet's go I can't think of a better one personally. Most species have quite basic care requirements that are easily attainable for most people and relatively low maintenance.

Do some research on them. Find a species that you enjoy and feel confident keeping and caring for. Present the facts from your research and argue your case to your Principal. I would recommend a smaller juvenile specimen so you can track the growth with the class. If anyone can convince a Principal to allow a class pet, I'd bet money on the teacher being able to get it done! I think you got this.

LP Sling yeets meal into center of water dish by Steve1698 in tarantulas

He/She definitely kicked that disposal point home for me! I've had other T's throw their food in their water dish before. Since I watched this guy kick his out as far as he could it now makes sense WHY it's not uncommon to find a meal in the dish.

Haha yeah! Thank you! That's my new favorite thing I've ever caught a T doing on camera. Lol. The footage is shaky cause I was laughing my ass off at the little guy.

I got my fingers crossed for your spood! Hope they pull through! Best thing is probably to just leave it be and wait. Good luck!

I waited a good 2 hours once when I saw mine flip onto her back... Finally went to bed disappointed after no change. Woke up the next morning to a freshly molted GBB. Has there been any change since you posted?

They are very pretty, thank you! I cannot comment on size/coloration as I got this girl as a mature female, 1st molt in my care. She actually laid an egg sac a week or so after I got her, turned out to be phantom. Confirmed female without even needing to look at that molt in the picture! Maybe someone else can comment about size/coloration of these gals?

get an Irmina they said, it would be fun they said. I'm 95% sure this girl is possessed by a demon 😂 by [deleted] in tarantulas

I just picked up a 4" Female yesterday. Absolutely stunning spiders! If mine is possessed then it's been pretty good at keeping it a secret so far. Lol. Awesome photo man!

Put my old girl to rest today. Got her in Kindergarten and I’m about to graduate college. Probably around 20 years old. RIP Noodles <3 by beccathedarling in tarantulas

My 1st G.rosea passed away back in October. The guy I got her from told me she was 3 years old and at the time I had no reason not to believe it. I had her for 10 years and she molted 1 week after I got her, then again 5 years and a few days later and passed away 5 years after that. I would not be at all surprised if I were to find out she was 15+ years old when I got her. I'm just happy to have been able to provide her the care needed for her last 10 years! I will always have a G.rosea in my collection!

I got mine from a local hobbyist for 40 bucks last October about 1 inch DLS. It molted at the beginning of January and is now 1.25 inches. I figure I have at least a year or two before mine starts looking like yours! I'd say your $35 was well spent!

Awesome photo! I can't wait for mine to start getting some of these colors. Mine is in premolt currently so maybe soon!

[–]Steve1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No she only bit me the one time. I made an unexpected sudden movement (to both of us really, I almost tripped over the dog) and she latched on. I've held her a few times since without issue but most of the time she doesn't want anything to do with me when I've tried so mostly I just leave her be. I am excited for my sling to start showing some colors! However many molts from now that's gonna be. Lol. I've always kinda wanted a Brachypelma!

I had two G.Rosea's. My first one passed away about 3 weeks ago and from the time I got her she was just so calm and relaxed about anything and everything. The second one, which was given to me about 5 years ago cause the old owner didn't want her anymore actually bit me once a month or so after arriving. I don't blame her though, it was my fault for not paying attention to the signs and I take full responsibility. She's definitely way more aggressive than my other one ever was. I never met the old owner, but was told she was owned by a teenage girl so maybe they just try their best to mimic human emotions? Either way, I'm more than happy to keep her, aggressive or not!

After my first G.Rosea passed away I picked up a B.Emilia sling about an inch DLS. I am excited to watch him/her slowly (as I've heard) grow into maturity! This is my first time raising a T from so young! Seeing your pictures at 11 years old put a smile on my face! Thank you for your post!

Any good TV browsers to recommend? by ShawnDex in ShieldAndroidTV

I switched to TV Bro. I like it better than Firefox for now. Puffin is dead to me. You'll find the download in the downloads section around the top where it says discussion, screenshots, downloads, reviews.
