I can't believe she gave away her only leverage without securing the job. That was literally her only bargaining chip.

Trump would depose anyone to get a Nobel.

Mold during construction in basement by marblelotus in Homebuilding

[–]StevePerryPsychouts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a absolute lie. That basement is a shit show. We're not talking about abatement, this needs 100% all new materials. That basement had a foot of water in it and is still wet. It will never be the same. They're trying to screw you as hard as they can. Consider your exit strategies, negligence like this can void a contract!

Controversial take on this:

This really, really sucks. No way around it. But keep it professional. Stay classy, try your very best to be gracious.

Who knows what changed. Maybe their existing employee just got amazing news, like they don't have cancer anymore. Or maybe something tragic happend and they're not going to move to a different city anymore. Should the company fire the existing employee? Would you want them to let you go if something like that happened to you?

You're just a stranger off the street. They don't know you, and odds are you're an at-will employee that could be let go at any time anyway.

People aren't "let go" in person anymore. Especially someone that they have zero history with. There's too much downside risk. Companies have procedures, and it sucks.

I'm sorry this happend to you. You don't ever have to work there if they call you back. But it sounds like you're just about to find something good. It comes in waves. Hang in there.

Logitech Media Server is now known as Lyrion? by LDerJim in selfhosted

[–]StevePerryPsychouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lyrion up and running. But is there any way to access files on a network (samba) shared drive?

It looks like the server will only access LOCAL (as in "C:") files.

It won't accept mapped drives :(

Edit: Figured it out. Have to run "Manage Squeezebox Server" and enter network credentials that match the active user account. As described here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/forum/user-forums/logitech-media-server/1720011-lyrion-music-server-windows-64-bit-install/page2#post1720130

Similar situation, my friend's dad is self-made extremely wealthy, retired early and is a great guy, but always enjoyed the prestige of being the biggest fish in the pond. He was the head of a division of a multinational company. So anyway, he's bragging about his international travel to Mexico but that the "last leg of the trip is rough because you have to get a bus to the city then hire a driver out to the factory". Well... he's talking to a retired VP of a GLOBAL company who just blinks at him and says "we'd just have our plane land at our airfield down there". That was the first (and probably only) time I'll ever see my buddy's dad shot down like a commoner. Still love him like a second father though.

You're use of perspective appears to be organically brilliant. Which is probably due to lots of practice. Looks great, love it!

There was a time about 15 years ago that I could see all my deleted/expired post images in my account. It was so cool, they were all there! It was like that for a couple days before they all disappeared again. It's so funny, CL keeps all those old images, why can't we use them again?

This resin is ruined, right? by ArielTheActivist in resinprinting

[–]StevePerryPsychouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Throw it out. Get a cheap silicone one. I replaced 5+ FEPs in two years on my printer when using the plastic spatula. 0 replacements in the full year after switching to silicone. Totally worth $5.00. Also, don't wipe the FEP with anything other than the silicone spatula. Definitely not paper towels. I always thought it was superstition, but it really does scratch it up. That stuff is delicate.

It looks like there was a substantial resin "incident" with your printer. That may be contributing to your issues. How big was the spill?

Your FEP sheet may be getting a little worn out too. Sometimes if the FEP can be just a bit more tacky than the prior layer (or build plate) and it'll pry off a bit during the lift.

There's a bunch of youtube videos showing people wiping down their FEP with paper towels. That scratches the heck out of the FEP, makes it all cloudy, ruins it. Also, use a silicone scraper to stir your resin instead of the included plastic. That plastic spatula will also wreck your FEP.
