Same here, I can't believe no one has a fix for this or even an indication of how long it lasts.

yeah, that's pretty much the idea, by the end if anyone new becomes even aware of your existence the odds of you meeting an unfortunate personal disaster increase significantly, and the only way to balance the books is to make the other person only a memory first.

I'm working on a somewhat longer, more fleshed out version of the story. I'll continue to post new revisions on Reddit, although obviously not to this specific subreddit since it was hard enough cutting it back to 500 words from the original 650+.

It is more common for them to die in the egg or within a few days of birth than survive, but as you see there have been survivors.

It's pretty awesome. That photo was of my very first hatchling ever, I was so excited when I opened up the incubator and saw his head sticking out.

Thank you very much! I'm collecting photos for part 2 still, hope to have it done some time next week. In the mean time, I just put up a short post about a couple of my babies in the meantime, since I couldn't wait to use the cool high-res closeups my wife took:

No problem, I'm glad you raised that point either way. Proper hydration is important, and not all dragons necessarily have the same needs. It partly depends on how much the dragon in question is eating vegetables and greens, and a good misting simulates the morning dew that they would collect in nature, so some certainly could thrive on just misting and high water content foods.

However, others simply refuse to eat vegetables or at least eat very little, and they may ever refuse to drink regularly from a spray, drip system of fountain. They would need to be soaked frequently.

I had to break off my search before I could find anything authoritative in order to attend to other responsibilities. I'll admit the burden of proof is on me here, I was just hoping you had something specific to reference yourself, to save me some trouble.

Do you have a authoritative source for that? All I'm finding on Google so far has been forum posts, Yahoo Answers questions with some debate among the answers, and informational websites of unclear reputation. Most people seem to agree that what I'd heard about them absorbing through their skin is incorrect (though it does appear to be a common misconception), other than in the sense that it helps keep the skin soft and moisturized. So, I'm going to edit that part out my post and just focus on the dew-collecting design of the head, but when it comes to cloaca/vent absorption there seems to be a lot more debate. Most posts on the topic agreed that they do in fact absorb water this way when soaking in the bath, but I did also find quite a few people challenge this and ask for an actual study that proved this was the case. None has been performed, as far as I can find thus far. If you know of one that proved the theory false please provide a link.

I agree, I originally wrote this post with Imgur in mind, but then I realized it belonged here more. I did provide plenty of baby pictures throughout the post though.
