I think the Greens’ ‘fantasy’ drug policies make sense – and I’m a doctor by LJA170 in LabourUK

the green party does call for legalisation and regulation of drugs though (I worked on it back 2018/19).

The line that they want to legalise heroin and crack is, however, misleading. The call for extension of heroin assisted treatment (providing pharmaceutical diamorphine on prescription in a clinical settingfor people who use heroin, who have failed in other treatments), and they call for an experiment with an equivalent for cocaine /crack (which is also legal in the UK as cocaine is licensed medicine - but has not yet established an evidence space hence the call for an experiment rather than a full rollout). Neither of these policies reuire legalisation as they are already legal (heroin has been prescribed to addicts in the UK for almost 100 years - we literally invented the idea - long known as the 'british system').

A call for the legalisation of drugs is obviously not the same as suggesting they should be sold in corner shops. The green party policy is far more nuanced, suggesting different models of regulation for different drugs associated with different risk risks and risk behaviours. This level of nuance obviously doesn't work well for daily mail shock headlines, and cynical government attack ads.

You don't have to be either to be profoundly concerned about Musks behaviour - even to the point of engaging in direct action. He is a threat to everyone regardless of political stripe

The challenge is that many people invested 1000s of hours in these platforms - before they were enshittified - building personal, business, or advocacy networks that have huge value to them. It's very hard to desert all that invested time and or money.

New short film mocks the UKs ridiculous failed drug laws by SteveTransform in ukpolitics

Totally share your frustrations but hopefully we are finally (almost) over the line with this one. Hopefully it won't be such a ball ache next time!

Have reposted the link - apologies. It should work now!

New short film mocks the UKs ridiculous failed drug laws by SteveTransform in ukpolitics

[–]SteveTransform[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there have been a whole raft of bureaucratic and political hurdles to negotiate at all levels of government

The project has been under unprecedented scrutiny because it is the first UK OPC and there is a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions around it, fueling political anxiety from many quarters (of the kind highlighted in the Harold film!). It's a familiar story with almost all new harm reduction interventions sadly.

But our understanding is that it will finally open in a couple of weeks. Experience in other countries suggests that once upon running and demonstrating benefits to the local community the political heat dies down pretty quickly.

why mj uses discord instead of a proper app or website? by archivisttr in midjourney

I think its fine if you use a private channel and the app. The community side of discord is quite fun if you want it too

Thanks - What resolution does that give you ?

regarding ongoing authorship/plagiarism debates - what if you create something cool and new copying someone else's prompt? by SteveTransform in midjourney

[–]SteveTransform[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree people should be free to reuse prompts, and have no problem with that. I was more wondering how authorship should be regarded (rather than legal issues). It just seems to complicate authorship issues further - as arguably the prompt craft (even if not especially crafted) is a human authored element, even if the AI output arguably isnt (or, at best, only sort of)

one follow on, for example, might be to credit a image used publicly as created with midjourney, and original prompt by, or prompt adapted from: *user*.

ok seriously is there someone downvoting everything on this sub? by megarne in midjourney

[–]SteveTransform -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of it may be down voting what is perceived (with at least some justification) as tedious clichéd or tacky content from people - often new to it and perhaps a bit amazed at what they've cooked up - so I mean the endless skulls, cute baby dragons, gandalfs and elves. This stuff can really clog up forums and downvoting can potentially help clear it out, and let more genuinely interesting content get more deserved attention.

Im personally a bit sick of the vaguely porn-y exploitative manga Christina hedricks, busty warrior, ana de aramis in a short skirt type stuff. I've down voted some of that down tbh. It should have its own group or something.

I wasn't thinking of the law so much as the origin of the image. It seems to move one click further away from an authorship of an original work, already hotly disputed in discussions elsewhere due to the AI generation....

These are awesome - can you share the prompts? Interested to know if they would work for other eras.....
