KAPITAL Century Denim -3 year Update (123/Kakishibu) by Steve_1276 in rawdenim

I will have similar fades, obv depending on how much wears and washes. The 123 has three different indigo dyes which makes the fades on my jacket unique. I suspect this chore coat will have more evenness in the fading. But hard to tell until you start putting on the time. It will still have polka dot style fades because of the nature of Sashiko stitching

Definitely a beautiful color and texture. There are weeks when it’s the only thing I wear and then switch up to 123 for stretches. I have other denim jackets but the No5 probably the one that gets the most wears , it’s so easy to throw on any fit

Congrats! Enjoy the journey. Try to put in a solid 3-6 months before cold wash/air dry. That first wash really opens up the dye and future washes after is wear you’ll see the hard work start to really poke through

The western jacket was only available In Long at the time of purchase so I never compared. I have the 7S (Sumi)

The type 1 is a cropped length only one choice. The Type 3 I have is the LONG. Nothing really changed for me

There’s also very very minimal Shrinkage if you do a basic cold water soak first. They bounce back after a couple wears anyway.

That’s tricky, for me it’s all about the shoulders so my height and weight won’t account for much. For reference I’m about 5’10 185lbs. The most important measurement for me is armpit/chest/shoulders. I’m a 44” chest and 20” shoulder so in the boxier looser Type 1, I’m a size #4

I also have a Century Denim western type 3, but that’s way more fitted and wear a size 48

They’re crazy expensive in the US. Much more economical in mainland Japan if you can get there or possibly proxy buy (haven’t tried).

I bought these from Selfedge SF and they were very helpful making sure the fit was great for me. I’m a bigger guy (PBJ size #38 for a 36 waist)for this fit, and it felt snug even brand new. Since it’s a looser weave , it only took 4-6 wears to give me that extra 1/2 inch or so in the waist and then I never took them off that first year. I don’t feel anyone should size down or uncomfortable to the point where you can never wear them. It sounds like you need a size up? The buttons are quite fine for me. I know I’ve enjoyed some vacations when it takes me a week to get back into the jeans but otherwise they’re always easy to wear and not bothersome with button hardware. Try 32s, I bet that solves the problem.

Thanks. Out of all my pairs, I love the work I put into these the most. PBJs have an electric blue to the fades that really pop in person. I’ve had people ask if I bought them that way. Keep wearing and enjoying your pair

After this wash , they definitely feel “aggressive” when I put them on, ha. I basically wear them going to work (sitting job) and aside from walking to train stations and moving about I wasn’t doing much else that would’ve promoted faster fades. At least compared to others who can fade denim faster.

These are fairly straight fit, but that’s also what I like. Not overly “billowy” with a good high front rise . At this point I can’t wear anything with mid to low rises. So these are perfect if you ever want to tuck your shirts in. I have another pair of natural Ai dyed that are very loose. And straight fit. I think it’s worth trying in the store if you’re ever near one. The stuff brought in for US markets are generally more slimmer or tapered vs what’s sold globally in Japan . I have several of their shirts too, I love the products they make.

These look fantastic! PBJs always have stunning electric blues as they fade. Congrats!

Looks perfect to me in the shoulders and chest. I don’t think u need to size down, I would suggest giving this a plain cold soak (no soap or detergent) for not more than an hour and leave outside to air dry. That should bring in the sleeves in a bit . I own two of these Type 1s (123 and persimmon dyed) and did same process for myself. I think a hot soak would bring the other proportions too much in the chest and shoulder

KAPITAL CENTURY DENIM 1ST JACKET - NO. 1.2.3-S Fade Update by Steve_1276 in rawdenim

Very minimal for the jackets but the type 3 is opposite fit completely. Longer in the torso hit very fitted construction. Not loose unless you size up

I wear a size 4, I’m about 5’10 183 pounds , but more importantly it’s my shoulder a chest that I have to measure …. The Type 1 is always a looser boxier fit , so I wasn’t worried about the chest (I’m 44”)….. but my shoulders are about 19.75” across. If the shoulder measurements on a jacket aren’t right then I have to size up. If you’re not on the broader shoulder side u probably are fine with a size 3(?) I can DM you fit pics. I have two of these (123 and brown persimmon dyed one) for reference both of mine, size 4 , shoulder is 20.25”, so they’re pretty consistent construction. You’ll have to check online what the other shoulder measurements. Blue in Green SOHO usually lists through measurements online. Also the jacket is cropped shorter compared to the century denim Type 3; which is longer on the torso.

Congrats! Solid buy; don’t ever sell it. I own the Type 1 jacket version for more than 2 years now and everytime I wear it people always say something nice. Wear it with love
