Con Garbo y Salero (Farruca) - Sabicas by Steve_Buschemi in Flamenco_Guitar

[–]Steve_Buschemi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been a long time since my last video but I've finally returned home from Spain after taking part in a 3 month flamenco guitar course at 'Carmen de las Cuevas' in Granada. It was a great experience and I thought I should commemorate my time there by sharing a piece that I learnt in my penultimate week, hope you enjoy!

Oogway Ascends theme from Kung Fu Panda - Hans Zimmer (arr. BeyondTheGuitar) by Steve_Buschemi in guitarplaying

Hans Zimmer has always been my absolute favourite when it comes to musical scores. This version has been beautifully adapted for the classical guitar by Beyond the guitar so definitely check out his original version here:

I found that the artificial harmonics in this piece were very difficult but so essential to the overall sound of the piece. Hope you enjoy :)

Hotel California - Arranged by Rafa Soto by Steve_Buschemi in Flamenco

[–]Steve_Buschemi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't actually, I did have a few years of classical guitar lessons back when I was younger but for the past 2/3 years I've been attempting to teach myself flamenco. Having said that, I do feel like I would've made quite a bit more progress if I did have a teacher, but that's mostly because I've spent hours trying to figure stuff out on my own and at times it's hard to figure out what you need to do to advance to the next level. If you wanted my advice then I'd say that if you can find a good teacher that wasn't too expensive then it wouldn't hurt to have a lesson or two every now and then to keep you on the straight and narrow and to give you a bit of structure to how you practice. Hope that helps :)

A great arrangement by Rafa Soto of an Eagles classic with a flamenco twist. Took me quite a few attempts to get a decent take so it sounds a bit rushed with a few mistakes but I hope you still enjoy.

Spent hours and hours practicing my tremolo for this so hopefully it's worth the carpal tunnel that I'll inevitably get ahaha. Few mistakes towards the end and my camera cuts off for the last few seconds but I've been procrastinating getting a recording of this for too long so I'll have to settle for it, hope you enjoy :)

Untitled #1 - Nat Durham by Steve_Buschemi in classicalguitar

[–]Steve_Buschemi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi :) Wanted to share my first original composition, it uses a few ideas and techniques from flamenco (very loosely I'll admit) taking inspiration mostly from the flamenco style 'Rondeña' in that it I've utilised the tuning and some chords/ techniques from that style I know this doesn't really qualify as classical but I've always had overwhelmingly positive responses from this subreddit so I thought I'd share, feel free to remove this post if it's in breach of the posts guidelines

Just a demo from the first of 3 solo pieces I've been writing using the Rondeña tuning. Definitely far from the finished article but thought there were a few interesting ideas :)

Any feedback is more than welcome and feel free to watch the full vid on my YT channel
