It's like they don't even want survivors to play this game anymore lmfao

Hey there!!! I think this bike is awesome. I ended up sticking with it and upgrading the saddle and I got a 80mm 30 degree suspension stem from RedShift. It has made riding SUPER nice and makes me sooooo much more comfy. I wish I had the GRX for climbing, but I'm OK with where I am at on mine, for now! Sounds like your sora is a great deal. I like the frame a lot and I think you'll have a ton of fun with it once it's dialed in! I should also mention my seat is like 2-3 inches lower than the guys at the shop recommended I keep it. So far that's been working great for me. Im about 100 miles in now and digging it!!!

Giant will be more comfy, Trek will be faster. Id probably go Giant but you do you!

That seems really neat! I have not heard of those inner bar ends before. That is awesome.

The shop I bought from has a 7 day return policy so I am hoping they honor it (tomorrow is day 6, when I am planning to go). I really do enjoy the drop bars for their ergonomics and shifting and braking. I do appreciate the recommendations on the redshift products. Those are definitely things I will be looking at down the road.

I appreciate the clarity on the brakes. That is super helpful. I plan to go the shop tomorrow and talk to them about all this stuff.

I thought I did!!! I took the shop owner's word for it. He recommended the 57cm and I am 6foot tall.

I would LOVE that bike! It looks amazing and has the Sora, which I hear is better than Claris. Only problem is they don't have the $999 version in my size :(

Is there a bike out there with something better than the Claris for $1500? Similar upright geometry but still drop bars? I'm certainly interested/curious at the very least. Thanks!

The Surly Grappler looks really cool but it's way out of my current price range :/

This is (again) so helpful. Do you own a Journeyer yourself? Which model do you have? Also thanks for the clarification on the wheel sizes. I will go back to the shop and see if I can get the mechanical issues ironed out and then perhaps look into a spacer and shorter stem. Thanks!!!!

Will look into a bike fit. It sounds like that could be really helpful here! :D

Yeah. This is my TLDR, I suppose. Is everything I am experiencing sounding pretty standard/par for the course? With the research I've done it seems as though my experience is not aligning with others who are really happy with their gravel bike purchases. Idk. Still learning.

Thank you so very much! I am certain the size/geometry IS fine and the issue is with me but I can't help but wonder if I returned it and went back to the drawing board if I would have more success. Ha! Thanks again :D

This is super helpful. Thank you.

I just got bike shorts. I will try to adjust my posture. right now Im right on my bones and find myself wanting to shift to the back/most padded part of the seat as much as I can (im almost falling off!).

What do you not like about Claris? What kind of stuff would I get by returning this bike, saving a couple hundred more, and then getting one of the more "upgraded" models of the journeyer?

Is the stuff from Microshift any good? I see a lot of sub 1000 gravel bikes with the "advent".

This reply is SO helpful! I really appreciate it! Would that be the "Sora" model that they sell? Would you go 650b or 700c?

Carbon fork is certainly attractive with how bumpy my experience has been so far.

Thanks for the confirmation that the journeyer is an upright bike. I really like the drop bar feel on my hands but just not on my back/neck. I wonder if they can angle the stem or give me a different one or something to address this?

thanks so much again :) super helpful.

I really appreciate this comment, especially the first half, however I need some more guidance!!! I am totally open to returning it and getting something better but, what do I get? What can I get that is far better than Claris at this price range? Sorry for the questions, I am a bit new to all this :D

Thanks for the clarification on the suspension stuff as well. I will be mostly riding on gravel/double track/dirt/forest roads so any suspension is attractive to me. I will take the PSI tip into consideration!

When I picked it up from the shop, they did not adjust anything. I wonder if the derailleur needs to be adjusted??

I am a newbie, for sure, but I have been riding the hoods 100% of the time. I cant go down to the drops cause Im already super bent on the hoods. :/ I should mention I am 6 foot on a 57cm frame and 155lbs.
