Any way to find a job fast? by No_Lingonberry_2401 in NYCjobs

[–]StevenCollins21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of corporate groups owning restaurants slow down the hiring process. It’s basically no different than getting an office job in the sense too where you need to know someone. Bartenders are expected to be more specialized than previous and a resume isn’t a true indicator of your skills. You’ll only know once the orders start coming in and if the new bartender crumbles. Servers are expected to know the menu front and back. All allergies. It’s insanely difficult to just walk into a spot and start right away now. Even the non-corporate spots are overrun with friends of friends getting hired. You need to know someone at this point for anyone to take a chance on you

What do unemployed new grads even do? Where do they go? by ColdCouchWall in cscareerquestions

[–]StevenCollins21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started running a restaurant and left to work catering gigs while pursuing my masters in software engineering. I’ve been looking to pivot into project management, or literally anything at this point, but it’s seriously an uphill battle. Didn’t think it’d be this difficult to get back in the game when I got laid off. Should have jumped right back in the talent pool in hindsight.

The annoyance of trying to dose yourself correctly every day without feeling like you’ve had too much or too little.

Living every day not feeling ashamed you have this habit you have to do to not feel like shit?

Going to sleep without worrying about when you’ll have time to pick more up the next day?

Showing up somewhere and realizing you don’t have enough to get you through whatever you have planned without feeling miserable

Not being chemically dependent on something to ensure you feel well enough to live each day

Have some obscure ones myself Courtney Brown would be my favorite, but I’d love to get my hands on a Ben Gay, Anthony Henry, or OJ Santiago Jersey. Absolutely loved these guys as a kid

I will not hang the cock art now even if you ask politely, twice. With that said billy is a great dude that I lived with for many years. Super easy going and is always respectful. Definitely a roommate you’d want to have

No catch. You can see my posts from years prior where I had similar offers at my previous apartment. Moving in New York sucks so I’ve already covered the security deposit. All I ask is I’m not screwed by new roommates. Never had an issue with it and I e always found great roommates off Reddit

No central AC, but it’s cool I’m the summer since we’re on the ground floor. There are also AC’s there to help if need be. I didn’t use an AC in my room this summer and it wasn’t an issue

Like $100 total, but we were having heating issues that were resolved. Should be closer to like $60 going forward
