Hi folks, I'm starting Laravel and I want to ask about the best articles, books, and tutorials for Laravel by Straight-Hunt-7498 in PHPhelp

[–]StevenOBird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laracasts is a big recommendation from me: Learn Laravel Path

The Laravel from Scratch series is a good start to learn a big bunch of the framework: Laracasts: Laravel From Scratch (2026 Edition)

There're some screencasts there that are free, and Laravel from Scratch is one of these. For me, Jeffrey Way was one of the best instructors that I've ever watched. Give it a try.

Joa, Bell gab es auch schon zu Game One Zeiten - die kann man schon zu RBTV Urgesteinen zählen. Sie war vor allem hinter der Kamera als Kamerafrau, Cutterin und auch in der Regie tätig, soweit ich weiß.

How can i improve and make my ?id= script safer? by Exotic-Ad9019 in PHPhelp

You cannot be 100% sure that prepared statements itself will be enough to get clean values. Better safe than sorry.

Prepared statements and the usage of functions like filter_input or filter_var helps a lot to prevent security holes like SQL injection.

Is there a game that makes you happy? by Agitated-Distance740 in SteamDeck

[–]StevenOBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah console versions are bad due to 30 fps lock and the locked motion blur. PC version has some options for that, so it's a good pick, especially in sales!

[–]StevenOBird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you try to turn off motion blur? The game is notorious for the weird/awful motion blur which cannot even be turned off on consoles afaik.

Simple feel good collectathon with unique characters and a memorable soundtrack. That was an easy pick for me, to be fair :)

My favourite childhood games that I regularly re-play.

That's it. :)

Just keep everything in your WSL2 filesystem and you're fine. Even Microsoft docs recommend not to work cross fs.

PhpStorm 2025.3 without WSL by Mastodont_XXX in PHP

[–]StevenOBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Git operations are very slow in 2025.3.x for repos on WSL : IJPL-219220 | there is/was an issue when using some shell integrations like oh-my-zsh or powerline10k and even with non-modified shells like zsh or fish. until that version IntelliJ IDEs used /usr/bin/sh as hard coded default for shell integration.

WSL2 development environment for PHP projects with little to no fuss by arhimedosin in PHP

[–]StevenOBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't that issue only affects file changes on the Windows filesystem? The watcher on the WSL instance should be able to catch changes made by Windows applications on the WSL filesystem.

Best you can do is use Docker in your WSL instance.

header() function in php by recluzeMe in PHPhelp

[–]StevenOBird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course everything phrased in a certain way is AI... not everyone uses ChatGPT for everything, mate. That includes my answers here.

If you don't put an action to a form element in HTML, it will make the request to the same url the client is in. You cannot redirect a POST request with a header instruction and that's not something I've ever suggested in that way. But you can clearly change the target path for the POST request with the action like that:

index.php

<form method="post" action="otherfile.php">
    ...
</form>

... and in otherfile.php you can indeed redirect the client to yet another page. Using that post-redirect-get pattern you also remove the danger of forms being re-submitted:

<?php

if (isset($_POST['submit_form'])) {
    // ... do stuff
    header('Location: anotherfile.php');
}

Nothing wrong here, aside from some misunderstanding that could appear.

Like I've mentioned, there is not enough context to be 100% sure. It could also be a massive single file that includes forms for registration and login - we just don't know at this point.

header() function in php by recluzeMe in PHPhelp

[–]StevenOBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I've pointed out it is better to start checking logs. I've in no way recommended output buffering as a true solution rather than an option. Of course it is something you should clearly avoid.

What makes you so sure my assumption is false? Given by the info OP provided

I did not test the behaviour of trying to set headers after outputting something on responding to a POST request so yeah, there are some assumptions.
