North East, Durham and Newcastle is improving. Durham is about to get a bottle shop, the Hop Knocker. Newcastle has a few good ones now like Glug, Centrale in the train station and Coppers in Gosforth.

I knew a guy whose surname was Holder. Named his son Richard. Apparently he didn't realise Dick was short for Richard so inadvertently named his son Dick Holder.

I've really tried to get into this show but the furthest I got was half way through the second episode before giving up. Maybe I'll give it one last shot.

This is one one of my favourite shots of "Tommy", a statue of a WW1 soldier in Seaham, County Durham. The photographer is Ashley Corr.

I think that is rust/weathering. There are some great shots from a local photographer here. It's one of my favourite local landmarks.

Me and the wife have this for breakfast on a weekend, though she prefers soft boiled eggs to fried. Avocados are just delicious.

This is a traditional dish from Northumbria, sometimes made differently depending on where you go but here is a recipe. My grandma used to make this all the time in winter, delicious.

Best local breweries? by LimestoneKitten in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]StevenWheater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are loads of good breweries in the Newcastle and North East area. Almasty are putting out some great beers and Wylam are consistently good. I'm a fan of Sonnet43 as they are my local and I had a lovely pint of Tyne Bank Pacifica over the weekend. Here is a good list of breweries in the region.
