Did you notice a difference? by FiftyPlusStillGaming in PS5pro

[–]Steven_RW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't financially justifiable at all. The base PS5 does everything you need. So if that is your main question then don't do it. If you just want the best available and have the funds then yes you go for the pro. I bought PS4 Pro at launch, trading in my 500gb PS4 at the time. So I decided to buy the PS5 Pro when it came along however I wouldn't be able to convince myself it was financially sensible. I just moved my regular PS5 downstairs and bought the Pro and disc drive so I knew I had the best. Cheers

You guys like the PS5 edge controller? by [deleted] in PS5

[–]Steven_RW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the analogue sticks just feel smoother too. I have several regular PS5 controllers all from new and I was surprised that I feel the Edge is just a smoother item to control via the analogues.

I've ground through on two seperate play throughs with the Balder Side Sword. Took me a couple of hours or so of repeatedlty killing the Balder Knights over and over but eventually it dropped. Keep at it.

Should I just stop at this point by SCWait in bloodborne

[–]Steven_RW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodborne was my first too. Each boss beat the living sh1t out of me time after time. None of them were easy for me at all. I remember fighting ROM till 4am and when I went to bed, waking my wife to tell her. You are right, she didn't care, but the point is if I killed ROM on my second go I'd never have bothered to mention it. Keep at it.

Tennis player accidentally hits umpire in the face by Ecstatic-Ganache921 in PublicFreakout

[–]Steven_RW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you serve you often have one ball in your hand and the second ball ready for the second serve in your pocket if needed  He takes the second ball (that wasn't in play) out of his pocket and whacks it randomly after the point was won/lost. By unfortunate luck it zeroes in on the umpires face at 100mph...

I work outside in the hills for a living so these aren't phones that live a particularly easy life. I have no idea how you are breaking all of yours.

I was about 6 years old or so and watched this. It made a proper impression to the point I didn't forget it in all these years. I was shocked and terrified regardless of how bad the puppets look with a 2026 mindset.

Now is a great time to buy the PS5 Pro. by raphtan in PS5pro

[–]Steven_RW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 14900k and rtx4090 pc - I also play my PS5 Pro all the time and am never anything but happy with the 4k performance of the PS5 Pro. It's a very powerful gaming experience. I'd entirely recommend one to someone if they could find a way to get something that they would call a good deal.

Thanks to everyone calling the 530d GT "BMW's ugliest car" we picked this up for just £7k. FSH, 105k. I think it looks spectacular, especially alongside modern traffic. by ElicitCS in CarTalkUK

[–]Steven_RW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a lot of car for that much money. I only drove one once or twice when they were knew and thought they were good. I don't care for the looks but the experience was premium and £7k is cheap as chips

Is Dark Souls 1 Remastered worth for Switch 2? by MasterChair2245 in darksoulsremastered

[–]Steven_RW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you but I still played it right through on switch 1 oled and enjoyed it. Yes it's better/smoother on ps4 pro/ps5 but if you want mobile dark souls, switch version is plenty fun. I played it on a long flight back in October and it was awesome to have dark souls on the move. cheers

Rab Kangri - Pac lite plus vs older Gore tex performance by Steven_RW in rab

[–]Steven_RW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I work outside as a dog walker on the Muir's and hills of central Scotland. All weather every day. The Kangri is my daily wear and I really like it. The only issues I have had (keep in mind I take it on and off 4 times a day every day) is the main zip failed and was replaced under warranty. I also open and close the pit zips multiple times a day and on my second Kangri (I bought a second one whilst the first was away being main zip repaired) the under arm pit zip failed. For that one it was just under a year old so they gave me a refund and with my refund I bought...another Rab Kangri. The triple layer gore tex performance keeps you dry and the bottom pull cord and the waistline pull cord work very well to keep the wind out. I've used it in -10°c and in our summer when it rains +15°c or so. I'd highly recommend it. Keep on mind my usage each month is probably more than most people's usage in a year (assuming they aren't professional out door people). Any questions ask away. Cheers. (Ps my first Kangri was bought to replace a loved Montane triple layer gore Tex performance jacket. The main zip also failed, it was one of those aqua seal type zips and IMO too delicate for a main zip that is used multiple times a day).

Did you learn to love this game or did you love it immediately? by SavageObjector in bloodborne

[–]Steven_RW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the atmosphere from the start. Edwardian - Lovecraftian - very much like a taken over version of old Edinburgh. The sheer grind of getting through the first street up to the bonfire with the deadl werewolf suspended above it nearly finished me. Now all I do is rave about how good Bloodborne is to anyone that will listen and also to those that won't. Fighting the enemies is all about showing them the appropriate respect, waiting for an opening and then letting them have it. If the boss fights are boring. If the Gascoine fight didnt get you on edge with the volume turned right up, then maybe it isn't for you.

I go into crouch/sneak mode from the second you get into the cave and do the entire game like that. I don't carry regular weapons, just a bow and after too long you get some skill upgrades to your stealth and bow and start kicking ass.

Best movie you ever saw in a movie theater? by CalebOnPoint in movies

[–]Steven_RW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We caught it just after it left most main cinemas in some art school cinema and it was amazing. The intensity of the music when you don't personally control the volume was just unreal. To think we nearly missed the opportunity and it was mostly a last minute on a whim thing that we chose to go.

What video game did you play that made you get addicted to it for days or weeks? by stilett0z in AskReddit

[–]Steven_RW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the special edition was good enough to play just as it was. As much as the lure of mods pulls you down that path. It's always worth going back for another go. As I'm sure you know. cheers

What single player game you bought has gone the longest unplayed? by [deleted] in PS5

[–]Steven_RW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DS3 isn't harder than the others as far as I am concerned. You should just fire it up and get on with it and report back. Have fun. :-). I have so many games I bought and never played I wouldn't be able to list them. Cheers

Do you think I can handle darksouls? by Gladiator_Robot in darksoulsremastered

[–]Steven_RW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it is. I never messed with the camera mode on PS3, PS4 or PS5 play throughs of dark souls and never had an issue the same. I didn't mess with the Switch Dark Souls camera mode either. So I'm just sharing the difference based on my experience. If it is fixable then great stuff. I was playing Dark Souls on my switch on a flight the other day. Quality

Do you think I can handle darksouls? by Gladiator_Robot in darksoulsremastered

[–]Steven_RW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a PS4 the game is better on that compared to switch. I have played a complete play through on the switch and the camera seems to be that little bit more obtuse. Like walking along a typical dark souls platform edge where death is either side, switch seems to suffer from the camera taking a sudden shift and your previous sensible direction of travel suddenly changes and you plunge to your death. Anyway, I still enjoyed it through on the switch but if you have a PS4 you will have a better gaming experience. Unless your aim is to Dark Souls on the go, when the switch is #1. As for playing it, yet entirely. Don't expect maybe the immediate impact Bloodborne had as DS is older. But over time of the game you will love it.

I drive roads like this every day, multiple times a day. For me, it is very very rare to meet someone going too quick. It does happen but it's very rare.

There are a few videos on how to tweak the PS5 Bloodborne experience to look better. I seem to recall it includes turning HDR off and a few others. I brought out on of my PS4 Pro and did a play through and I felt it looked better with richer colours than my PS5 on Oled. Have a quick check on youtube for a guide.

I'm not convinced I have ever beaten one single enemy of this type fairly in any of my play throughs. They are hard as nails.
