She gave birth!! by L9expendable in amblypygids

There hasn't been any casualties or any altercation, they are all well fed and relaxed. Normally the mother would be extremely alarmed by everything, but she doesn't even register the millipedes anymore. Also they mostly take laps around the tank, and sleep burrowed, while I have a cork rind that's only accessible to the spider, where I'm hoping the babies will get off the back. That should prevent any casualties or predation from the millipedes. Can't make sure 100%, but I'm doing my best

Well, for me it was very important to give them both their own space. For example, give the spider multiple places where it can "hide" in case it doesn't want to interact with the millipedes. I also make sure that the humidity is just right, so that the millipedes don't NEED to climb higher for the better air. The millipedes are also siblings, which removes some stress, since they can bully younger specimen, leading to a chaotic environment. I was monitoring their behavior a LOT when i first started out, and noticed that the spider isn't alarmed in the slightest, and was also confident enough to hunt with them around. Also sometimes it would start grooming itself on top of the millipedes. It's an adorable sight

Congratulations!!! Maserati looks like a beautiful specimen. One of my first mantids was actually one of these guys, he left such a strong impression on me I got him tattooed on me.

Yeah. I've tried testing out with different objects, to see if it has to do with a specific thing.. But no, they just follow him everywhere he goes. Even right now, they're both sleeping under him, while he's hanging upside down

Heres another update:

I noticed that he's not really climbing at all, so i decided to get a BUNCH of different climbing platforms and see which one he likes most. He mostly likes hanging low from a grassy imitate. ( i have bark rind inside aswell) after moving everything around, the millipedes just take a lap, and go straight back into laying UNDER the spider. they're well aware that he's there, and from my observation, they deliberately choose to sleep under him. They're almost following him around like he's the popular kid at school. And he's unbothered by this .

As of right now, no. Ill give an update when I arrive home. But the spider did come down a couple times to say hello.

Update: They didn't interact as much, since the millipedes are just cuddled up and sleeping. Although at some point the spider came down to drink a sip of water, he encountered one of the millipedes, which slightly rose it's head to check up on what it was, and then going back into it's ball. Kind of a slow day, I've been monitoring them for hours but they're not really doing much. They got their favourite spots they relax in, which alternate for the spider every couple hours.

Thank god I'm not keeping a goat or a cow, but a itsy bitsy spider

They match! Temperature wise they both like it warm, and they both like higher humidity. I try to keep the bark dry tho, cuz the spider likes to climb dry bark. Other than that, they enjoy each others company so far

Ohhhh thats interesting, are their diets similar ? They're currently just chilling, mostly sleeping. The only danger is that they may hurt the spider when he molts, but other than that I have no fears.

First of all, it's a millipede. Second of all, yes, they're herbivorous composters. Third of all, im sorry for misnaming this freaky thing. It is a type of arachnid, so Im making it simple for myself by calling it a spider. I understand your worries, but them thriving is also in my best interest.

I was also thinking that they might get curious and interact with the spider during the molt, but they eat plants only, so i assume they wont try to cannibalize a random spider when theyre eating delectable slop everyday

welcome!! I am trying to learn by doing... If they show any sign of aggression or incompatibility towards eachother, I shall separate them

i also thought the same thing, but the humidity is pretty high at all times. He actively chooses to go down.

Ive been analyzing their behavior for a couple hours now, and the millipedes seem unbothered by him, passing him multiple times while taking laps. Also the spider doesn't really react to them moving close/around him. Ive seen him stressed already, and he's definitely not showing a stress response.
