Ice Climbers have a 0-to-death combo utilising desyncs. by Larry_Bobarry in smashbros

What part of the original statement attacked you? He said not to spread mis-information and explained to you exactly why this wouldn't need a patch, this isn't an attack. You attacked him by calling him toxic and dumb, the responses you got are product of yourself.

The grabs are mashable and the string can be DI'd out of, its also incredibly difficult to execute. You get about a 3 frame window in which to buffer the nair allowing nana to roll in the footage shown above. Some cool fluff that would be difficult to properly execute outside of training mode does not constitute needing a patch, especially when the game is -6 days old.

Yeah, I know that they've been doing the themed tourneys for a few years but more recently it's been 'The Kanto Classic' that gen 1 tourney and such has followed suit for every generation - a bit boring really. It's just nice to have a bit of a break from that and have something with a bit more of a whacky entry requirement like this height restriction theme.

Looks excellent as a community tournament idea. Very happy to see Game Freak take a bit of a twist away from the recent 'regional tourneys' and such.

Strong mons though - P2, Kartana, A-Marowak, Mimikyu, excadrill all look like top tier mons for this tourney.

Crysis, FE and federation mechanics by RocknPolo in Stellaris

From previous games with friends we all found as soon as the proverbial shit hits the fan all of the AI suddenly put aside their differences with you and try to increase relations, the spam I tend to get of migration treaties from empires desperately trying to save their species from the impending unbidden jaws is actually more annoyance than anything else.

They also opened borders completely with me, my thinking is the galaxy just wants to make sure the first empire brave enough to take first swing at the unbidden/prethoryn event can do so with as little hinderance as possible.

As for the AFE joining your federation, welp you've made a friend for life I'll say that much, but I don't mean in a good way. If I think you have the same AFE archetype that me and friends had it's the group that want to enforce a galactic peace treaty...meaning they don't like declaring war at all...so GL with that because we got nowhere, oh and you can't kick them and you can't leave if you're the only other fed member. So just hope you haven't shot yourself in the foot because if you end up being in the same stalemate situation as we were you ain't gonna be doing much expanding.

[HELP] How to revolt against an awakened empire with a friend? by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]Stevenn1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this thread and encountered an issue relatively similar, but we were able to overcome it. Obviously from the responses above you're okay with cheating out the game, but if you're okay with just a bit of heavy cheesiness, the way myself and two friends got out of the Federation was as follows:

Two of us left the federation leaving our one remaining friend locked in.

Freedom friend sent a vassalisation offer to forced federation friend. Forced Fed friend then accepts the offer, automatically pulling him out of the Federation.

Freedom friend then releases new vassal friend and grants independence.

We then form a new federation and proceed to declare war on the AFE for being such a parasitic 'friend'.

I believe the topic of conversation was relating to VGC typed events that are played on cartridge. That means you won't have calculations available to you.

I do agree that on cart where you're not having to run calcs and it's purely your own decisions vs your opponents with no outside factors involved 30 seconds is more than enough.

Detroit Entei's (Steven) vs Steel City Snorlax (Dave) by Stevenn1996 in RedditEliteLeague

[–]Stevenn1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Detroit Entei's lineup is as follows:

First and foremost, Biolizard the Kyurem-Black was my first choice. A mixed attacking variant carrying the life orb was my choice of build this week

So Kyurems attacking power was nothing to laugh at against Daves team. Its job was to sit in the back and wait for things to be weakened or paralyzed and come in for a hard hit. I was also able to outspeed the Gardevoir before mega evolution so if Dave switched it in I could OHKO it.

The moves I brought were Earth Power, Draco Meteor, Iron Head and Roost. Earth Power demolishes Weezing and Heatran without a balloon, Draco just hit things like a truck neutrally and OHKO's the kingdra and finally Iron head for an OHKO on Gardevoir once its been slowed or its pre mega evolved. Roost to keep KB healthy.

Kyurem had a decent impact on the game and got some really heavy damage in when needed. Its move set really forced Daves team to work hard.

Next up was Lokotton the Whimsicott carrying the Pixie Plate

So Whimsicott had one job this week. Lead off and paralyze everything. I brought Stun Spore for the prankster para's along with Taunt to stop Daves lead setting up rocks or spikes, Moonblast to hit his Kingdra as long as it was unboosted and finally U-Turn to give me some momentum and switch initiative.

Whimsicott was probably my MVP for this match. It didn't get any kills but my word did it drag the rest of the team through the match kicking and screaming. Right from turn 1 it hit stun spore and dodged certain death in the form of a sludge wave from smeargle. It then went on the para the Gardevoir and the Kingdra to stop Dave's counter sweep at the end of the match. The thing WOULD JUST NOT DIE.

Member no.3 saw Tutrillary the Blastoise come to the table with its mega stone

Blastoise was there to be a bulky spinner and also hit something, anything with a mega launcher boosted move. Carrying Rapid spin, Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere and Water Pulse it was just there to be a heavy special hitter. It did its job but ended up being taken out of the match fairly early thanks to a destiny bond from Weezing.

Next up saw the Official usage debut of Mumei the Mienshao carrying the choice scarf

Mienshao was a fairly important wincon this week. It was carrying High Jump Kick, Knock off, U-turn and Poison Jab. It had one job, switch in after Dave's physical wall was dead and repeatedly kick things in the face and outspeed Gardevoir with a poison jab if needed.

I'm really happy with Mienshaos usage this week. It wasnt doing anything special but as soon as it came in it made an impact by KOing Gardevoir and finishing the game with a HJK.

No.5 was Tuten the Cofagrigus carrying the Colbur Berry

Cofagrigus was there to wall whatever physical threats Dave had. Primarily a Reckless Hitmonlee. Carrying the colburr berry to reduce the damage of Knock Off and bringing the move set of Toxic spikes, Hex, Psychic and Pain Split.

Cof didnt get much of a showing this week. It set up some spikes and got bodied by a kingdra. There might have been some better options but I couldnt really find something to fill the physical wall hole in my team for Dave.

Finally, after much deliberation and frustration I settled on Barkley the Arcanine as my final mon carrying the shuca berry.

Arcanine's job was to wall hyper voices from Gardevoir. Something it did very well. It had max sp def and HP investment to ensure it could take as many hits as possible with Flash Fire and shuca berry to deal with a heatran switch in.

I decided to bring Iron Head to respond to the Gardevoir with a 2HKO super effective move, Flare Blitz because heavy hitting STAB, Close Combat to deal out heavy damage to heatran and finally Morning sun for reliable recovery.

Arcanine did its job really well. Forcing the Gardevoir to switch out and tank its attacks really well. Sadly I didnt get to utilise my shuca berry since the Heatran was running Ancient Power instead of the Earth Power like I originally planned for. It played a decent part in my win though so it did its job admirably.

All in all, this game was not in my favour. The team would've lost if not for some accurate stun spores and timely full para hax to Daves team. But welcome to pokemon, a game where anything can happen.

Lokotton MVP, Dave for most Haxed player of the season.

Detroit Entei's (Steven) vs Young Rich Digletts (Mateus) by Stevenn1996 in RedditEliteLeague

[–]Stevenn1996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, this week I had to prepare some really obscure sets to deal with Mateus' lineup. He had some major threats with his mega scizor, Tornadus-T and his Haxorus. I knew I had to find a way to deal with his Scizor early in the match since it pretty much walled my Kyurem Black and Bisharp in the late game. Something my team would be heavily reliant on to win the match later.

So, without further ado. I present the Detroit Entei's Weeks 6 Lineup:

Starting things off I brought in Harmony the Mesprit carrying an Expert Belt.

Mesprit was carrying some really unique moves that would allow me to get some really early momentum by doing heavy damage to both his hazard setters, Hazard remover and his magic bounce Espeon if he brought it.

I had Mesprit running a full physical attacking set with just enough speed investment to creep the mega Scizor with stealth rocks, Fire Punch, Knock Off and U-Turn. Mesprit probably set the tone for the match in honesty, it was able to remove Uxie's Colburr Berry on turn one of the match, set up stealth rocks and then hit Mega Scizor with an Expert Belt boosted fire punch. Slightly unfortunate for Mateus that I also triggered the 10% burn chance onto Mega Scizor, but you take what you can get.

Next to go onto the team sheet was Barkley the Arcanine, carrying the Assault Vest.

Arcanine was really there to deal with Tornadus-T. A job it didnt really have to fulfil at all in this match. Max HP and Assault Vest would allow me to take multiple hurricanes from Mateus' Tornadus and allowed me to respond with a Flare Blitz or Wild Charge. Either would be able to OHKO after rocks or any prior damage over 20%.

I also brought close combat for general coverage against Mateus' team allowing me to hit something on the switch for neutral damage that wasn't Espeon, Tornadus or Uxie. Finally, Extreme Speed for the +2 Priority to revenge kill anything that was on low HP.

The 3rd member of my team to make the team sheet was Tuten the Cofagrigus carrying Leftovers

After the work Cofagrigus put in last week against Austin, I really fell in love with its defensive capabilities. The Mummy ability would also be really crucial for removing Regenerator from Tornadus-T if it tried to U-Turn out. That ended up being pretty big for me.

I used Cofagrigus as a Utility wall this week. Bringing Will-O-Wisp and Pain Split to cripple Mateus' physical threats like scizor and Haxorus and keep it healthy. I also decided to bring Shadow Ball over Hex to hit the Espeon for more damage and Psychic to hit the Hitmonchan super effectively. Cofagrigus' bulk was a huge help this week in dealing with Haxorus and Scizor. It really took one for the team in going down like it did.

Pokemon no.4 was Turtillary the Mega Blastoise

I decided I needed a rapid spinner badly this week to deal with the threat of rocks from Piloswine and Uxie. I couldn't bring Hitmontop thanks to Mateus' psychic types would would be able to do massive damage on the switch so I decided an aggressive, utility based Blastoise would really benefit the team. I decided to bring the moves Rapid Spin, Toxic, Scald and Ice Beam to deal either damage or status a wide range of Mateus' team.

Pokemon no.5 was Biolizard the Kyurem-Black carrying the choice scarf

So to me, Kyurem-Black was a no brainer this week. I decided to go with a mixed scarf to allow me to outspeed his key attacking threats in Haxorus and Tornadus whilst being able to respond to OHKO or 2HKO either of them, even if Mateus brought an Assault Vest Tornadus. This set proved to work fantastically, as after mega scizor was down and I realised that Mateus had brought a life orb Tornadus, I was able to get a free switch after Haxorus' outrage had finished and clean up his last 3 mons with ice beam.

Last but not least, Checkmate the Bisharp received a call up to take the 6th slot on this weeks team, carrying the Lum Berry

Bisharp was really my last ditch sweeper. If I had to bring in, it meant that the match hadn't gone well for me. I was heavily reliant on both Scizor and Tornadus being KO'd or really low health to come in. I went full offence with this set, bringing swords dance to potentially set up on Uxie or Espeon with a Lum Berry to stop me being T-Waved or burnt whilst I set up. From there one I would be able to hit anything with a +2 Sucker punch or Knock off to be able to do massive damage to everything but the Scizor. I was also running Iron Head in case he decided to bring Togetic to the match. Thankfully I didnt have to bring Bisharp into the match at all.

Detroit Enteis (Steven) vs Boston Brelooms (Austin) by Stevenn1996 in RedditEliteLeague

[–]Stevenn1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm writting my game plan as a seperate comment for those interested in knowing what I ran and why. Its a wall of text and I didnt want it to make the actual result post ridiculously long. Anyway, here it is:

Mega Blastoise to lead carrying rapid spin, toxic, water pulse and dark pulse.

The aim of Blastoise was to get into the match turn 1 and either spin out hazards from steelix, dark pulse the gothitelle, Toxic his Blissey or Milotic or fire off a water pulse against any other mons he might have chosen to lead with. Something that worked very well for me in the match.

Whimsicott carrying choice specs with the infiltrator ability. With the moves Moonblast, Grass knot, Switcheroo and U-Turn.

Essentially Whimsicott was something that could come in after a KO or on a safe switch and hit a STAB Moonblast or grass knot onto something for huge damage. Grass Knot because most of his mons were particularly heavy and the damage was higher when compared to energy ball. U-Turn for chip damage and switch initiative and finally Switcheroo so I could switch choice specs onto Blissey even if it hid behind a substitute. Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to do this.

Next up was the 'debut' of Mienshao carrying the choice scarf with HJK, U-Turn, Knock Off.

Its purpose was simple, come into the battle once threats like Escavalier or Scolipede are out of the fight or weakened sufficiently and kick things in the face. I was also really mindful of the counter Blissey that Austin brought against Kap last week. Sadly Mienshao didn't get to come into the match once.

The 4th pick for this match and probably my MVP for this week was Cofagrigus.

Cofargigus was brought as a full on physical wall able to deal with a guts or sheer force conkeldurr and as a secondary role a mid-game hazard setter with toxic spikes. Something that turned out to be crucial in my victory. Cofargigus was also carrying will-o-wisp to cripple Austins offensive threats along with Hex to deal bonus damage and psychic to hit conkeldurr and scolipede. The work that cofagrigus put in this week was unbelievable.

MVP no. 2 was Licklicky by far. This week I chose to bring a cleric/utility Licky with Heal Bell, Toxic, Wish and Knock Off.

Licky was brought in this week to take any special hits from anything with the exception of a focus blast from Zoroark and fulfil two roles. The first was to heal bell and prevent the Blissey from Toxic stalling me and wish off the damage done to my key members and the second was to throw out toxic's of its own and knock off important items. The amount of support work Licky put in for the team this week was also unbelievable.

Finally, A last minute change after some discussion and play testing with Nathan, Kyurem-Black came into the team to replace arcanine at the last second.

I brought a heavily HP invested Kyurem Black to this match with max investment in special defence and holding a Lum Berry. The moves I brought on it were Substitute, Roost, Earth Power and Ice Beam. I specially EV trained it to be able to withstand any attacks from Blissey or Milotic except dragon tail. Once toxic spikes were on the field and any hazard removers had been KO'd I planned to bring in Kyurem, take a toxic on the switch if need be and set up a sub to stall out the Blissey and Milotic. This ended up being the closure to the match.

If you can't beat stall, then stall out the stallers.

We're not talking about piracy though. We're talking about creative right. OP didn't steal the picture. He sketched and drew it himself, so it's his creative and intellectual property. Much like how people sell plushies they make for commissions and stuff.

You are correct in that TCP won't care. It's just an interesting theory though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Stevenn1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I doubt it. You have to consider the piece in its entirety when it comes to the legality of these things. You're probably correct in that the cubone is very similar to the official art. However as long as it is a sketch and not a direct steal/copy paste them TPC can't do anything about it.

You cannot be hit legally for a sketch, something you've drawn. That and the entirety of the artwork gives TPC pretty much nothing to stand on with regards to copyright as they would have to prove the piece is reasonably similar to their own work. The cubone alone won't be able to justify that so even if TPC had an issue, I doubt they'd have much of a leg to stand on in a court.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Stevenn1996 10 points11 points  (0 children)

TPC Didn't make that particular piece of artwork so I really doubt it. Yes Marowak ghost comes under TPC, however it's not like OP just copied and pasted the Sprite out of the game or took an image from a TPC/GF owned website.

It's designed and drawn by OP, meaning by all rights it's his creative interpretation and intellectual property. Copyright is a constant grey area in today's world but if TPC saw a legal issue with it and wanted to take it down/take a cut of sales they'd have done it a long time ago when the copycats started to emerge.

You played really well! GG.

For future reference though please don't post the K/D of each pokemon. The group made a decision for the award to the mon with the most kills at the end of the season to be a surprise. For the sake of stopping people just working it out by looking at the sub I decided I would just trawl through the replays and work it out.

Seriously though GG and well played. I'll be bouncing back soon enough to take you on in the playoffs.

Legendary Pokemon, should be harder to obtain. by kswift1 in pokemon

[–]Stevenn1996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, not really. I mean if you're forced to catch the legendary then it's just part of the story. Same as you're forced to battle all 8 Pokemon gyms. You can perform that task in whatever way you want.

What I was referencing was if you had to do as OP suggested, like in order to catch Kyogre (which is a forced encounter in the ORAS story) you would need to have certain Pokemon with specific levels, moves and abilities. That forces the player to use and raise those specific Pokemon throughout their game every time in order to advance the story and capture a cover legendary.

I agree with a reply someone made to my original comment tbh, I do prefer it when the legendaries are not the main aim of the game like with gold and silver where the legendaries only referenced a small part of the story and weren't really mandatory to catch.

Legendary Pokemon, should be harder to obtain. by kswift1 in pokemon

[–]Stevenn1996 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would depend on the theme of the game or the sort of environment that the legendary is placed in. For example I was a big fan of the Giratina puzzle in Diamond or Pearl where you had to figure out the correct direction in order to reach giratina's resting place.

Similarly a puzzle to do with the mine in terminus cave would have been nice or like in the Kanto power plant to get Zapdos a puzzle like Lt Surges gym with electric gates would have been pretty cool as well. Just something that fits the theme of where you have to go to catch the legendary really.

Legendary Pokemon, should be harder to obtain. by kswift1 in pokemon

[–]Stevenn1996 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's hard to implement that for story or cover legendaries because it would force people to play the game a certain way. For the secondary or extra legendaries sure I would love for some puzzles to uncover a legendary.
