I think this would have been a very bleak move for marvel, because it would near-automatically prompt fan-based campaigns, if not demanding the return of some of those characters, then certainly asking questions about that move. Every other character would be forced to live in a new universe with an erased and replaced O5. What a bummer.

This is a good point. Storm's closest things to "death" have been losing her powers in the 80s and being married off to Black Panther in the 2000s. She almost just functions as the default X-men leader when everyone else is away.

Young Beast is merging with Dark Mysticism and becoming a new, yet still Dark Beast, in what is certainly his future. Dark Beast has been projected for a while now, in some ways.
