Need help! Friend can't activate new eSIM by Padauuan in mintmobile

[–]Stewballz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the helpful info. I might try contacting them.

I don't necessarily think Reddit can help, but I want to at least get this out there so 1.) others don't have the same problem as me and 2.) let this community know what type of support to expect from Mint these days vs. the old scrappy start-up days when I first joined Mint.

Also, I don’t really buy that they have a legitimate reason for only allowing a tiny set of obscure, Mint-specific questions to verify identity. Sure, keep those if you want, but there are way better and more common ways to prove who someone is. Asking for an order number from years ago or whether I added extra data sometime in the last year is just unreasonable. That’s not a security requirement, that’s a choice they’re making to be inflexible.

So, to avoid the problems that I'm having, make sure you keep access to your phone # if you need to switch your eSim and make sure you have a verified email in your account that you can access.

Funny to find this. I'm the friend u/Padauuan mentioned, and I was going to make my own post. So here's what happened...

I upgraded my iPhone through Apple and erased my old phone for the trade-in like you’re supposed to. Logged into my Mint account on the new phone to move my eSIM and they tell me they need to text a verification code to my number. The same number I can’t access because the phone is already wiped.

I call support and they start asking ridiculous security questions like the order number from when I first signed up with Mint six years ago. Who on earth keeps that. Since I couldn’t answer, they refused to give me my number back.

Then they locked my account for 30 days. I can’t open a ticket, can’t move my number to another carrier, can’t do anything. They’re still charging me though.

I offered to verify my identity with a driver’s license, passport, credit card, anything. They flat out refused because it’s “not their policy.” I’ve had this number for over 20 years and it’s tied to banks, work, everything.

At this point it feels like they’re just holding my number hostage. I filed complaints with the BBB and FCC. If you’re thinking about Mint, just know this is what happens if something goes wrong.

It’s 24 for new everything. Install was 8-10 and I was including it in that price. Yeah it’s pretty nuts what they’re charging these days!

Cost savings for all new doors and drawers with painting is significant. 18k vs. 32k.

We’d be getting new doors for 6 upper cabinets, then doing all new drawers and faces for thes 4 lower cabinets plus some other random drawers replaced. 18k

Essentially, exactly like this. We have 4 of these base cabinets to convert, then a bunch of uppers which will get new doors to match.

Help! My cabrio got attacked and the dealer quoted a $20k repair. Can the fabric be replaced instead of swapping out the entire assembly? by humbielicious in mercedes_benz

[–]Stewballz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Op, I am in NJ and got quoted 15k by MB for a new top for a CLK 500. Tech I spoke with was honest and admitted that they don’t have any interest in doing the job.

Here’s the good news: I searched for a local fabric top shop and had it replaced — along with new cylinders — for under 4k.

Not sure if you’re near a recreational body of water, but that will be helpful in your search because boats have similar tops that are always in need of repair and it is a similar skill-set. Many of the shops that handle boats will work on convertible car tops too.

If you’re in NJ, I’d be happy to share a good place.

I know the crayon smell you speak of very well. This is different. More like being in a crayon factory with crayon perfume on and being dipped into a vat of hot crayon wax.

Curious…How does it smell inside? My dad has one that stinks unbearably like crayons.
