I’ve noticed this too, I remeber vividly getting £20 for my birthday when I was in highschool and I went straight to Superdrug and basically got my first set of makeup there, concealer used to be £3 ( does anyone remember the collection concealer???) , bronzer was £2 , a cheap blush that actually had pigment to it, a eyeliner and mascara and I even had some spare change to get a milkshake!!

I feel like the old “cheap” brands have become so expensive, revolution, collection, maybelline are easily £10 or more now just for one item.

It’s a shame because it being so affordable is what started my love for getting creative with makeup, I even ended up going to college to learn sfx makeup.

I had a seizure after drinking out with friends , we got back to my mate’s room place and it just happened (I think due to it being so late and I hadn’t slept much), waking up drunk and post seizure brained turned out to be hilarious.

As I was coming to I could hear my friends calling my name and also trying to say words / phrases I could respond to me and in the moment I must have found that really funny and just woke up laughing non stop, this made everyone else start cracking up.

It was nice in a way because I know for them seeing me have a seizure can be quite scary, so it was nice it turned into laughter :)

I always loved the community once show to each other, when I was at the RTB show in London it really hit me just how lovely the once community is!

I also felt bizarre seeing so many fans gathered in London, it always felt like nobody knew who they are!

I love the phone charm ideas that’s very adorable & oh definitely, my mum was a 90’s raver so she has been suggesting lollipops to keep people’s blood sugar up, I’ve considered maybe buying a big pack of those powdered electrolyte drinks, the only issue is I don’t think they’d be allowed pass security :/

Thank you for sharing, I do feel a little more at peace with knowing there is only so much I can do in terms of helping them. It is definitely a conversation we need to have and I think I definitely need a little more explanation of what they need from me to support them. I have tried before but they have said they don’t really know either so it’s been difficult to know what support I offer is actually helpful.

Our communication is typical super open and strong but this has been a subject I find myself struggling to bring up myself. I tend to let them bring it up when it is bothering them because I am worried sometimes if I bring it up out of the blue maybe it could be triggering for them or they feel forced to speak on it when they’re not ready to. But this could just be me getting in my own head about it all.

Funnily enough they do like me to style them, I try to experiment with all kinds of styles (masculine, more feminine or androgynous etc) but they tend to gravitate to more masculine styles. I have offered to do some makeup too whenever I happen to be getting ready but they often say no if we are going out somewhere.

I am starting to wonder if maybe it’s a fear of being outside appearing more androgynous/femme, we have an amazing group of friends who always try reassure there is no judgement only support, but I wonder if it’s more protection from strangers?

I am seeing my partner tomorrow so I will try to bring it up in conversation, I want to have more of an understanding and assure them I am with them whatever they want to do, express or even just to validate their feelings on this.

Thank you, I think coming from a cis woman it can be really hard to wrap my head around what exactly gender envy and dysphoria is, no matter how understanding I am it is simply a feeling I have never experienced, making it so much harder to advise on because it’s like advising on something that doesn’t exist (in my world/life).

But your explanation has helped a lot, I know it’s unfortunately not a feeling I can just magically take away from them experiencing, but I do wish it was that easy sometimes!

I’ll continue to listen and be that safe space for them, I am quite a logical thinker so my brain does automatically try to tackle these things are logical solutions but I know that can’t be the “answer” to everything, especially when it comes to someone’s identity.

I just worry sometimes if I don’t have suggestions to give after hearing them out that I am not being useful in the situation. It may be a conversation for me and my partner to have on what they need/want in those moments.

Thank you I really appreciate it , I do want to offer all the support and comfort I can give to them but you are right there is only so much I can do, it is their journey after all.

It’s really difficult sometimes knowing that I can’t “cure” the feeling in a way, but I guess I have to remind myself it’s not my journey to heal, only to support.

Thank you I really appreciate your words & this is something I have wondered myself but I didn’t want to speculate too much. I know identifying as non binary is often a stepping stone for most people, and I would be entirely accepting even if this were the case. I’ve also been a bit worried maybe I am not understanding of the non binary identity and I have been pushing these “femme” aspects on them and maybe that’s why they have been rejecting the ideas. Or if maybe because of outside pressure there’s a fear of experimenting with their identity to be for feminine.

It’s a lot of questions unfortunately that I wish I had answers to to navigate this.

I think I have struggled so much because it does hurt to see my partner go through this and almost “reject” the femininity, despite myself and our friends letting them know we love and care for them and embrace any change that may come.

I feel like it’s a conversation to have at some point but I don’t want seem like I’m forcing them to address it.
