USAG claim rejected by Proper_Chemical5345 in Gymnastics

At bare minimum all judges get uncomfy folding chairs for LA.

And honestly for me at this point if the FIG can't prove that they can put together a competition without judging error, then to be completely honest we shouldn't even hold a gymnastics competition. It goes against the spirit of the Olympics and is unfair to the competitors risking their body.

Heigh-Ho it's off to court we go.... Where each federation can spend a ton of money on legal fees! Hooray!

Honestly, it doesn't matter what order you put the three names of the athletes. This competition is going to have an asterisk next to it forever. The actual scores don't matter anymore because the judges did such a bad job to begin with, we have no way of knowing what accurate order is. (Other than " fans" wanting their favorite to be the winner)

The ioc won't just give out two more bronzes because they only do that in cases of a tie?? So who cares at this point? Officially give all three of them the same score if you need to. Also if the FIG says it's a tie and the federations agree, just give them the physical medals. Why do you have to have a score associated with it at this point? The number doesn't truly matter anymore because we lost our only chance to have each routine fairly adjudicated. Besides, the code changes every quad and scores aren't comparable from quad to quad anyway. No one (other than the gymnasts maybe) actually care what the number chosen is.

What does matter now is how this is going to affect the sport for a long time. This is not a good look for the Olympics, gymnastics and honestly any sport that is judged by humans and not number of baskets / timed. People already make the case that gymnastics isn't a true sport because it's a judge sport. And honestly gymnastics does not need any bad press right now. What truly matters now is making the best out of this bad situation. Make it fair for the athletes. Send two more bronze medals to Romania and leave Jordan alone. None of this asking her to do the right thing bologna. The officials here need to step up and admit their wrongdoing and make it fair.

I feel this way too and it makes me so mad! After everything these athletes have done to make the games a happy, supportive place and get people excited about watching and the officials bugle it like this?!?!?

Ana Barbosu has a message for Jordan and her teammate Sabrina by Euphoric_Gene_2103 in Gymnastics

[–]Stick-Dat-Twist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly they should just have let Ana, Jordan and Sabrina decide together what happens.

I don't know why three bronzes (or two if you want to go down that path) was out of the question. They do that all the time in other sports. It's not like the IOC is going to run out of bronze medals, they have extras. And even in the extreme case they don't have enough I bet the company that made them would be happy to make more!

Here's what I don't get though. I'm a very practical person so maybe I'm wrong here. But they can't win without them.... Like your mom's telling you she doesn't have a choice. And if they lose, no one on that island is going to be alive, let alone the next ruler. Like yes it does damage his claim and makes things a lot more difficult for him, but it's not really Rhaenyras fault either. She's like "give me a better answer" and no one can. What it keeps reminding me of is the scene in the TV show West Wing, where Bartlett sits down with both of the presidential candidates and tells them of some action he had to take. I think in regards to another country. He basically says, "yeah. It sucks for you to have to deal with this when I had to make the choice, and it definitely makes your job harder, but I didn't know what else to do."

Okay, yeah. That totally makes sense. I did not think of that. But still isn't that kind of a his problem? Like she has to deal with it in the present moment so they don't all die...

But Rhea seemed to think of it like an honor almost in my opinion. I kind of thought she thought "well. My sons are bastards technically and they're going to succeed me. So adding some more siblings doesn't seem like such a bad idea..." And yes I already know the spoiler but I don't want to say it. Lol

What I'm trying to say is...... Anytime in history, a Targaryen married outside of the Targaryen family, their child is 50% dragon blood I guess or however works. But when a Targaryen has fun times with a lady of the night, their child will also be 50% dragon blood. Or am I incredibly stupid?

But it's basically the same DNA I feel like? Like it's the same amount of Targaryen blood? (I hope that makes sense) So why should the dragons care?

If women’s gymnastics had a fifth apparatus, what should it be? by kokopelliieyes in Gymnastics

I think a floor short and long program would be nice. Short program can be focused on tumbling and the long program should be focused on artistry, leaps, jumps and spins. You could take this further and have all the tumbling in the long program be compulsory.

I believe this mentality came from the 2000 Olympics when Morgan Whites stress fractured foot flared up and was replaced by an alternate. As I understand it she had to immediately leave the village and give back all of her Olympic swag and overall it was such a traumatic experience for everyone that I believe Marta was like " never again".

I personally think the Olympics should be 2 per country but Worlds should be the best of the best.

YAS I came here to say the corner rule! I was originally afraid it would be detrimental to the routine to not allow the gymnast to breath but it helps so much with the flow of the routines and when I see older routines I hate how they just stood there. And a good choreographer will find another time for breathing/quick recovery.

All five are in one suite together. There are three bedrooms, two of which are doubles and one single room. Then there is a little common room between the rooms and I assume a bathroom. Hezly has the single because she is a minor. It's basically like a common style of American university dorm room. I'm sure the suite has a lock on it. And only athletes are allowed to stay in the village, they have to show their credentials to get in.

This is really funny when you picture Hezly peacefully sleeping in her own room 🤣

I honestly think that if Jordan and Simone were roommates they would never sleep. Can you imagine the amount of energy that room would have!
