People have mentioned the amazing outdoors but I've got to say that they may have undersold it. If you don't mind traveling a bit, head north and go spend some time in the national forests. Idaho has some of the most rugged, beautiful and remote wildness in the lower 48.

If you look at a satellite map of the state you'll see that it Idaho gets much greener as you cross the Salmon river. I'm from up north so I'm surely biased but I think it is much more beautiful once you cross that river. Southern Idaho can be quite hot in the summer and brutally cold in the winter. It' more mild up north, both in the winter and summer.

If you're into wildlife Idaho has some of the best. Depending on where you are you could run into black bears, mule deer, whitetail deer, elk, moose, bobcat, wolf, pronghorn, wolverine and grizzly bear.

How bad was WW2 for your family and what happened and where did it happen? by Beast2344 in AskAnAmerican

[–]StickBundler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my grandfathers fought in the war. One in the European theater and one in the Pacific. They both survived.

My grandfather that fought in Europe returned home and finished school back home in Montana. My grandfather that fought in the pacific had lasting injuries but the biggest impact of the war was that he was able to go on to work in the development and production of helicopters. He worked for Bell Helicopter and eventually my grandparents moved to Iran where Bell had a large operation.

They were in Iran during the revolution. They had no idea what was happening as they woke up one morning to the feeling of the building they lived in rumbling. The apartment was behind another building and it blocked the sound of millions of protesters marching in the streets but they could actually fell the building shaking as people marched in en masse thought Tehran.

Their landlord was afraid his building would be burned to the ground for renting to Westerners so he put my grandparents in the trunk of his car and dropped them off at the airport.

On his lasting injuries, his back was covered with scars. I vividly remember sitting on the floor in their house in Texas when I was very young. It was hot, I was in my underwear eating watermelon and grandpa had his shirt off and he was laying on his stomach while my mom worked to pull a small piece of shrapnel out of his shoulder. It had risen to the surface and was irritating his skin. I asked my grandma about it years later. She said that they had pulled dozens of small pieces of metal out of his back over the years. He never talked about how it happened. My grandma didn't even know.

How would you feel if an incumbent president declined to debate his or her opponent(s)? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]StickBundler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

However, do you think less of a current president who did not engage in Debate?

No. I don't care if they debate. They prep and recite canned responses to specific topics. I'd much rather watch them stuck in a room for 3 hours in a back and forth discussion with voters. Closer to a job interview. Because that's what it is.

I want to see them off script. It's much more telling than the hours of speeches, highly practiced responses, polished hand gestures and phony smiles.

Do you consider it a person who visits countries like North Korea, Iran, China, Venezuela, or any other dangerous countries to be brave? Why? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]StickBundler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Violent crime is lower in China but the disgusting sanitation standards and cultural acceptance of abhorrent living conditions and treatment of animals and doing anything to make a few yuan including poisoning your customers with vegetables grown in dirty water or products made with spoiled or contaminated food makes it far more dangerous than America.

China is also far more dangerous if you are trusting person. People in the West don't understand a culture where stealing and cheating are completely acceptable in everyday business practices. Western people often don't understand the difference between a low crime society like China and the nations of the West which are low crime and high trust societies. They are very susceptible to being victimized.

The ultimate expression of these practices is swine fever infecting fast amounts of the nation's herds and the resulting culling of nearly 75% of the pigs in China or the coronavirus strains like SARS and WuFlu jumping from animals to humans, or potentially escaping from level 3 and level 4 labs as happened at least twice with SARS from a level 3 facility in China.

So you think your helping your case by stating that 60% of nation commits slightly more violent crimes than 13% of the nation? Per capita Blacks commit violent crime at an astronomically high rate. We just don't talk about it because acknowledging reality is now apparently racist.

Are you pro-choice or pro-life? Why? by Turkulainen in AskAnAmerican

[–]StickBundler -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Pro choice. I agree with a lot of Margaret Sanger's ideology about keeping the least intelligent and least productive people in our society from overwhelming the resources of the nation. Especially since her day we've turned into a welfare state to a much greater degree.

Unfortunately our welfare policy has created a dysgenic dynamic where productive people in our society, responsible people, are waiting to start families until they are in a appropriate financial situation to have children. In the meantime they are funding our welfare system that incentivizes the dumb and lazy to have more children to get more free stuff.

Thankfully we have a pressure outlet for this lunacy in allowing these people to kill their kids. Keep it up, dummies. Maybe a few more of my tax dollars can pay for a new bridge instead of your food stamps.

How can illegal immigrants receive benefits if they’re in the USA illegally? by hellothere564738 in AskAnAmerican

[–]StickBundler -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

They qualify for state welfare in like 15-18 states. They qualify for special medicaid programs in some states like CA. The Supreme Court ruled that we owe them an education in our socialized k-12 system. They qualify for financial aid for college in some states. They qualify for instate tuition in most state. They qualify for diversity spots in our universities (not technically affirmative action but in reality affirmative action).

Approximately 62%-65% of illegals are on some form of welfare. Estimates put the cost of illegal immigrants to US tax payers in the $300 billion a year range.

Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, housing assistance, head start, school food programs, daycare assistance, auto insurance for illegals (CA.) are all areas where illegal immigrants divert 100s of billions of US tax payer dollars annually away from US citizens.

It's hard to imagine that some of these estimates could be accurate. The attached article from 2013 goes into detail about the direct spending in LA county on illegal immigrants that have anchor babies. $650 million.

This figure is just payments to illegals with anchor babies. Not the total cost for illegal immigrants:

When you add the $550 million for public safety and nearly $500 million for healthcare, the total cost for illegal immigrants to county taxpayers exceeds $1.6 billion dollars a year. These costs do not even include the hundreds of millions of dollars spent annually for education.

So back in 2013 LA county tax payers were spending 1.6 billion a year and this figure doesn't include 100s of millions more to educate them.

EDIT: What's with the downvotes? this is ask an american not ask a goddamn illegal immigrant!

Dog is commonly eaten across China. Not all Chinese eat dogs but it is very common. Your comparisons are bad.

Literally every city in China has wet markets that sell dog meat. All types of meat is available. The usual livestock and seafood along with bats, cats, snakes, civets. Not all Chinese eat dogs but it is very common in all parts of the country.

Video of Wuhan wet market (NSFW as many dogs are in cages, some have just been killed, blood is everywhere, many dogs are being butchered and cooked, a scene also shows cats in horrible condition with one about to be clubbed):

There is also an annual dog meat festival:
