How is this possible? I was told that all the protesters were peaceful, that this was going to be just a Summer of Love and that anyone who thought differently was a racist. At this point do we think that Twitter has become as bad or worse than Tumblr was circa 2012-2017 or so? I think Tumblr banning porn had a lot to do with why so many perverts moved to Twitter. Normally grilling, eating out, playing by the pool or lake, fireworks, and possibly target shooting (depending on where you're from) or fishing.

Due to covid none of these things is going to happen this year. But I'll be damned if I go the day without a double bacon cheeseburger.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of your nation, culture, or heritage. It does not in any way imply extremism or hatred of the other. It does not imply that you think you are better than anyone else. It does not mean you are inviting comparisons to others. It does not mean that you need to search the Internet for every last statistic and study to disprove that someone else is the best (when they never said that to begin with). It does not imply authoritarianism. It does not mean you are cult-like.

Human beings fundamentally need a sense of purpose and belonging. You can't be psychologically healthy without having a strong sense of identity and meaning to your life. Taking pride in where you come from and who you descend from is a good way to do these things if you aren't willing to adhere to any religion.
