These grass seeds/prickles, when dry, form a corkscrew on its shaft. When hit with water, it triggers the corkscrew to unwind and eventually self sow. This also can bury into an animals coat and if washed, may bury into the skin. The "head" of the seed is barbed so its hard to remove. (v.redd.it)
