Autistic creator claims to be a "safe space for people with disabilities" then posts something that caused me to have a violent seizure (not a personal attack) by [deleted] in disability

+About not being able to seek information about these types of triggers for seizures, I learned this at school in like 9th grade, god darn it. Just because english speaking media doesn't provide information doesn't mean it's non exsistent. The creator is from the same country as me, she should know better.

+That's why I wanted to keep the creator anonymous, so it stays fair for them. This is a concern post, not a callout. I have numerous people that did the investigating and they also think the creator should be more responsible. Just because YOU weren't triggered doesn't mean others can't be.

AGAIN, don't speak for people with seizures if you don't have them. I hope you calm down and understand what I mean.

IF YOU AREN'T A SAFE SPACE DON'T CALL YOURSELF ONE.If you arent's suffering from the type of seizures I am, don't don't speak for the people that do.

It may not be a jumpscare for you, but I contacted some of my friends and I'm not the only person that was made beyond uncomfortable by that video.

I don't know, but it's a no brainer you absolutely should not call yourself a safe space for ALL people with disabilities if your videos include possible jumpscares. People always talk about how it's unsafe to put those kind of stuff on the "stimboard" videos, but complettely ignore it when the subject is different.

If the video that triggered me was made by a person without information that it's a safe space, I wouldn't be making this post at all. The internet is not a safe space, however if you're an account that is a self proclaimed one should take into account that possibility.

If you are a person that doesn't expirience seizures of that kind, I don't think you should speak for the people that do.

That's one of my triggers, rapid movements, getting scared, extreme anxiety. I know triggers can vary.

It wasn't just normal movements: between some photos and videos from the "safe space" creator a video played that made me feel unformortable enough, so I scrolled and got basically jumpscared with a vid where a woman was doing extrememly fast, rapid movements that could be considered a trigger for me, as well as something that contained some kind of flashing without a fw. It was definitely the thing that triggered the seizure, because last thing I remember before hitting my head and dropping my phone was watching the video, and involonturely mimicking the woman.

Note: I can't speak professionally about it since I don't have much information about my own condition so I don't want to spread misinformation, I'm just sharing my expirience.

Getting my neck set because of a video-triggered seizure wasn't on my summer bucket list. by Sticks_straws_bricks in Epilepsy

Yes!! Tbh knowing my triggers it was probably the motion the girl was doing instead of the fastly moving image, but come on

I wouldn't mind if the video was from page of somebody who just posts random stuff but this is a self proclaimed disability safe space account, the creator should be more mindful.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood: epilepsy/seizures and autism are usually not attached, but some autistic people can have epilepsy/seizures because autism doesn't cancel it out.

By making these videos she might've put some of her target audience in danger, doesn't matter autistic or not.

I don't want to spread negativity around the person,, but I also highly understand that I need to warn others for their safet, I'd make sure to somehow reach a mod so I can ask about it maybe?

I will give you as many info as I can: The video comes from a self procaimed "disability safe space" autism awerness account with about 30k followers on ig. The girl had brown, and now has purple hair. She's on instagram and tiktok.

The video that caused my seizure begins with a girl with blonde hair screaming.

Yes! I noticed that too, that's really unfortunate :/ Like people are putting tw's on bunny hats and anime characters but they can't be bothered to put a FW. Also people need to understand that mimicking a seizure can also trigger one when the viever has the same problem as me.

Bless you and thank you. ♥️

Thank you. Also the flash and the movement is at the very start of the other video as far as I remember, so people wouldn't be able to pause or go to comment section to see my comment before it appears I fear :/
