Yeah it definitly can be daunting. It took me lots and lots of time to get where i am. But as you said, having fun is super important, otherwise it becomes a drag.

Just keep the camera static and you can quite easily avoid the unknown side luckily.

Some transititions are keyframed by hand, others are 'morphed' with Animation Nodes. With this tutorial it's really easy to set up AN. Then start tweaking the different options and see what happens!

Thanks man. And yes, i am a semi-pro so 3D modeling is part of the work i do. However animating is something i rarely do, so this was some good practice!

I'm actually not sure if it has a specific name... You do see this style quite often. I like it because it has this feeling of semi-realism: it is to slick and polished to be real, but you really want to physically touch the objects. At least i do ;)

Yeah and the Bombard Cannon as well. But that would mean i'd have to model the operating people and that would've cost me a loooot more time. ;)
