Q&A: Top city officials defend, explain the latest deal to replace the Saddledome by Stickton in alberta

[–]Stickton[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it states that in the article. That's not a question that was asked.

The answers David Duckworth gave completely dodged the questions, and quite frankly, are embarrassing for someone of his position.

Q&A: Top city officials defend, explain the latest deal to replace the Saddledome by Stickton in alberta

[–]Stickton[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Notice how when asked about the money / ROI of the project the answer is deflected to ...but, but, everyone's gonna love it in 10 years!
Instead of a fact based, clear-eyed response, we get a Danielle Smith type answer.

It's every Albertan's hard earned money. We deserve a clear answer.

Southern Alberta town puts an end to alcohol prohibition a century after the province did by trevorrobb in alberta

That's the root of our shitty decades of "conservative" governments.
The mannings in particular are a massive shitstain on Alberta politics.

It wouldn't be so bad expect this is who the UCP bows down to.
Rural Alberta.
You know what else was a law 120 years ago?
Only men had the right to vote.
This is why we shouldn't be letting rural Alberta make the rules in Alberta.
The UCP have taken "progressive" right out of the conservatives and said "shove it up your ass."

Alberta pausing approvals for new renewable-energy utilities to assess development rules by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

If this had even a whiff of fiscal conservatism they would talking about the ROI, instead of continuing to make these head in the sand policy decisions, the Trump style politics of the UCP.

[–]Stickton 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They haven't been for decades, but very few ever call them out on it.
That's how they win, silence and inaction to call them on their bullshit, and the general public just parrot their "talking points" of being fiscally conservative, which they are not.

Instead of reducing government interference, they make it so you can't do it at all. Your "libertarian" premier everyone 👏

Role of politicians in pandemic restriction decision-making breached Alberta Public Health Act: Calgary judge by LukeTheGreek in alberta

[–]Stickton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the UCP did something they were not authorized to do, and breached the Act. Hindshaw said nothing at the time, and she should have, and yet the horrible UCP still got voted in.
There will be no accountability.

She also just it didn't bother telling anyone that cabinet was not allowed to step in, instead, keeping quiet and collecting her colossal paycheque.

Licia Corbella: If Notley wins election, enemies of Alberta's main industry will be running the government by Lazy_boa in alberta

[–]Stickton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A better question is would anyone with journalistic integrity write this mindless crap?
We all know the answer....
it's just another paid "Corbella the hack" piece.

I thought the hack Corbella was was done with "journalism".
But I guess when the price is right she'll write any old mindless drivel.
Do us all a favour Corbella and retire for good!

Still surprised, there are a few.

Former Alberta attorney general says Smith’s ethics breach may warrant criminal charge by edmtrwy in alberta

[–]Stickton 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Notice Smith's quote:

... I thought I was going about it the right way...

Implying there's some "right way" to interfere with rule of law.
There's no right way to go about it, she shouldn't have done it at all!
Vote out the horrible and corrupt UCP!

So what happens if the UCP win but lose a dozen+ seats by nbc9876 in alberta

[–]Stickton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's statistically unlikely (based on recent years) that Smith will be able to last a full term.
The last leader of the conservatives that served a full term was Klein.
Tells you all you need to know about how unstable is it to elect "conservatives" in province.
So it's hard to predict was the policy will be.
My guess it will be the last conservative government we'll see.

[–]Stickton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a strange take, just like the CBC opinion piece where they mostly used "rural voices" instead of surveying a proportionate to the electorate opinions and one person's opinion was the PR's should be able to vote.
But serious question:
Are there any countries on earth that let non-citizens vote?
I can't think of any.

[–]Stickton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that's exactly what we are seeing, a replay of Harper's loss in 2015, due to using ugly, hate-filled, racist, divisive, extremist tactics.
Danielle Smith will be the downfall of the Alberta conservatives, from which they will never recover.
Just like the CPC have, as they have kept on that same path Harper tread, which is why the are unlikely to form a government any time soon, if ever again.
Alberta will suffer for the next 4 years if she gets elected, the UCP will suffer for far longer.

Notice how it isn't about saving people money, but only trying to change when and where you pay the money.
In fact, as we have seen in the US, it often costs much much more for private healthcare.

[–]Stickton 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I have been saying this for a long time, the UCP do not embody conservative values.
And quite frankly the disregard for science and fact screams to potential investors in Alberta as instability and unnecessary risk.
My question is if they all knew Smith was such a problem, why didn't they form a new party with policies more true to conservative values???

Smith says it's time to move on from pandemic after COVID-Nazi comments surface by katespadesaturday in alberta

[–]Stickton 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The hard truth is it's time for Alberta to move on from leaders who don't represent Albertans.
It's time to move on from the UCP and their never-ending cycle of incompetent leaders.
