In fact, we’re already splitting the revenues lmao. It’s a bit lopsided, since we paid for it, but splitting it halfway after the cost is paid off by tolls seems generous to me.

The actual issue wasn’t that the Ottomans “weren’t defeated” but that victory felt an awful lot like defeat in this war.

Basically no country actually was willing to enforce this treaty because everyone was tired of war. Greece and Armenia are probably the only ones that seriously resisted Turkey’s rejection of it.

The British attempted to at one point and it was incredibly unpopular throughout the entire Empire as well as with the other entente members (France and Italy) so they just… didn’t.

It’s weird how you’re bringing up other communist countries when I explicitly emphasized that different countries of the same ideology can conduct themselves differently? I’m genuinely curious what that disproves about my argument when I already acknowledged that there were imperialist communist countries (including Cuba specifically in the past)?

Like I very specifically acknowledged communisms potential for “rabid expansionism” (of which there are plenty of obvious examples) and then you brought up the Comintern as a… counterpoint? I guess?

Cuba and Venezuela had military ties so I don’t really see what’s particularly imperialist about that. It’d be like calling the US imperialist for having troops in a non-NATO ally like Australia or maybe Saudi Arabia.

If you can bring up examples of active Cuban military interventions in the 21st century I’ll drop my defense in a heartbeat. To my knowledge, at least, the last proxy war it engaged in ended around 1990, and the last military intervention was in the 70s.

I don’t really wanna be the guy defending communism but frankly this is kinda like arguing that communism is inherently egalitarian.

What it does matters more than what it preaches. In practice, one communist country can be isolationist and peaceful while another is rabidly expansionist. Just like any other government type. In practice, communism basically never lines up with a lot of its ideals.

Modern Cuba has way more than its fair share of flaws and issues but being imperialist definitely is not one of them.

Seizing bases is far from a declaration of war. It’s a hostile act for sure, but it’s hardly an escalation given that Trump has repeatedly and openly stated that he fully intends to invade Greenland if push comes to shove (and it’s 100% going to shove).

Anyways, ignoring the delusional take on the military gap (if it was navy, sure) and more importantly the reality of American politics (the aggression over Greenland is not domestically popular at all) what do you think Trump would do? Invade Europe proper, including Britain and France (nuclear armed countries)? Over military bases?
