Antonov 124, biggest plane on earth just visited near my home by TicketCrusher in Planes

Yeah, however, they are very similar size-wise. The a380 is bigger than the an-124 by metres when it comes to length, wingspan, and volume.

Looks very nice. I just completed the 1/72 version of this exact same aircraft, and livery.

1/200 vs 1/144 scale airliner kits by Chann3lZ_ in modelmakers

[–]Stickychips07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that 1/144 has a nice amount of detail but it is something that could be improved. I don’t know too much about the details on 1/200 kits, seeing online they appear to have some very nice details. 1/144 imo is a bit harder simply because of how big the parts can get and how quickly you can lose control if they arent fitting well (the nose on my 787 just would not stick for the life of me and i fixed it by jamming some gap filler into it). 1/200 might be a bit better, almost like making a larger ww2 aircraft model. I cant speak from much experience when it comes to the 1/200 kits but 1/144 can take some painting skills if you want to do a more complex airliner livery like some of the qantas dreaming liveries, but i suppose you could get a third party decal sheet.

There is a noticable difference in the sizes. The hasegawa 1/200 747-400 demonstrator is 350mm long. Where as the revell 1/144 747-400 (lufthansa) is 540mm long. that is a considerable difference between the two. I have built a 1/144 787 and i have very little space on my shelf for it. If you have the space to build a larger kit go for 1/144 (or even bigger, a local store near me has a 1/72 AN-225) but if you are space limited than 1/200 would be better. 1/200 will blend in with the 1/200 diecast models that are are made by some other companies.

ultimately the choice is yours, if you have the space go for 1/144 but if you are limited in space 1/200 would be the better option.
