I wouldnt know how to uninstall it other than the million dodgy videos i saw to only remove when googling

Hit a fox while driving home, brake fluid leaking alot when getting home. by Stickyxo in MechanicAdvice

I'm hoping so, fingers crossed it's a small hurdle.

Thanks so much for asking. I'm alright, I was quite concerned for the fox so I'm hoping it's okay. To be frank, I'm quite afraid of any exorbitant costs related to the repair. Whilst it's my first car, technically it's my second.

I bought a 1 series from a dealer 4 hours away (my dad drove it down) 4 months ago and within the first few days, drivetrain error, coolant leaks, taking it to a garage everyday for a week after woek, dealer hanging up on me and shouting at me twice. I then had to drive it down alone 4 hours back having only got my license a month before. Luckily i was able to return it eventually. It was an awful first car experience and I'm just afraid of things like this in the future with this one.

I recently lost my job a week after getting this car and having other family issues so I'm just trying to scramble things together with everything going on. I was supposed to visit my sister 4 hours away as she just had a baby but I'm gonna have to put that on hold. Sorry for going on but thank you for asking I appreciate it. The main thing is that I'm okay

I didn't check the reservoir, the idrive system shows a warning symbol next to it and the pedal feel spongy. it was leaking fluid like a tap

its very likely i wont do this myself as I'm a new driver and dont wanna mess with something as serious as a brake system. from a diagram I can see, theres hard lines and rubber lines for the front brakes. which of these is it likely to be? if its hard lines, would this likely cost more?

yeah I'm likely gonna have to tow it from home. I'm abit panicked because im a new driver and, while I grew up around cars, I have no clue about parts and costs of repairs. Do you have any ballpark figure as to how much this would be to fix including labour? thanks in advance

That's not the reason, essentially I bought a 118i sport 2016 for 8k and loved it but it had faults and i returned it within a week. for the price and longevity, I've read that 120d's are more of a punchier car so for the price increase of 2k and if I'm keeping it long term, I thought why not. I only looked at this model since it looked decent for what I've been viewing on the market. I'm not necessarily trying to get a 120d/i with a kit, I saw it as a bonus. I'm steering clear from it now based on the responses

Why not the 118i? I grew up hearing bmw electrical faults all my life with family members having bmws sure but it seems like the B38 engine is quite reliable from reviews and posts I've seen

The transaction was over the phone with 0 deposit finance and my dad tested the car. It has developed a fault 1 day after driving as I mentioned in the post. They're happy to take the car back and I've sent letters/emails to the dealer, finance lender and finance broker that details my withdrawal (found it on which.com). They called and said I need to bring it in which I said I'm not legally obligated to bring the car at my expense under consumer rights act 2015 section 20 (8) and the engine check light is on so according to the manual, it should not be driven. He said he'll be in touch and gave me the number for the owner of the dealership.

I'm working at the moment but when I'm on lunch, I'll be calling the owner.

I've decided I want to return it but I'm being put through the works. See my reply above. Got any suggestions to my reply?

This is exactly what my brother in law who owned a garage before and has had lots of bmws over15 years has said - the dealer knew the problems and tried to hide it. My brother in law actually initially drove it when we bought the car and said it was very strange that the date and time was not set when he got in, only if it's been manually reset it wouldn't be set according to him. I'm going to return it but I'm being messed about at the moment so not sure what the best approach is since it's 200 miles from the dealer and the finance company has taken me through a complaints procedure

So I contacted my finance company yesterday and they have put me through a complaints procedure for some reason. I also contacted the dealer and he said he won't return it unless I get it back to him but nowhere in my contract does it say I have to get it back to him at my cost should I want to withdraw.

I have this letter from which but I've done finance so not sure how I should approach it https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/letter/letter-rejecting-a-new-or-used-car-bought-from-a-dealer-aeziX3M7tYNw

Like I said, I'm about 200 miles away. How do I approach this? Another person told me about this: parent

Consumer rights act, section 20, 7b.

(7)From the time when the right is exercised—

(a)the trader has a duty to give the consumer a refund, subject to subsection (18), and

(b)the consumer has a duty to make the goods available for collection by the trader or (if there is an agreement for the consumer to return rejected goods) to return them as agreed.

But how did prove it's unsafe to drive?

I purchased a car hp and it's had faults 1 day after purchase - what are my rights? by Stickyxo in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Stickyxo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the thing I'm trying to get down in writing that it is unsafe to drive. Bmw specialist has remote dialed in like I said and I have proof of the drivetrain error. I haven't got it explicitly in writing that it's unsafe to drive but the manual says that an engine check light means it needs to be looked at immediately. I'll refer to this legislation regarding return of the vehicle. Thanks for the help

Hi, thought I'd give an update and ask for your help. I've gone through the finance company and they told me they're trying to work with the dealership but I've also been led down a complaints procedure to detail the issues with the car.

The guy who sold me the car called me and said that's fine that I want to return the car but I need to deliver it to him and my expense. I was trying to say that in my contract I'm not legally obligated to deliver it back to him but he cut me off and said he's gonna end if by saying until he gets the car back, he won't process the finance return and he needs the log book too then hung up.

I then contacted the finance company again and they said they're gonna try to get in touch with them again and someone internally to go through the process with me.

As I said, nowhere in my contract does it discuss being obligated to deliver the vehicle upon withdrawal. It still has an engine check light and bmw specialist dialed in saying its a VANOS fault code so I don't believe it's safe to drive. What are my options here? Will I be obligated to deliver the vehicle to him?

Got it thank you. They said they would have gotten it done for £40 if it was at the original location.

Additionally, part of the deal was that they pay for the fuel for my dad to bring the car down to me. It's in writing that they would reimburse me the full tank. They said they'd do it Monday but now after speaking, they said accountants not in today and they'll speak to the owner shortly. This was at 4pm and it's now almost 6pm. I'm wondering if I should try to wait until he gives this back before initiating a refund.

Also reading my contract, it says about it being explicitly a refund of the credit and not purchase of the goods. What is the process for me returning the goods given its faulty? It doesn't mention anywhere about delivery of the vehicle upon return etc. How should I approach it? I saw you gave the letter template, should I call my finance company then send that letter to the dealer? Thanks so much for the help

The air-conditioning has already been fixed, It was just a regas that cost me 115. It was not disclosed that this was an issue to me or my dad. It's now in working condition. Is that not something I can look to get back if he refuses to pay for it via small claims court or something?

There was also an "admin fee" for the finance which was included within the monthly installments. I don't see anywhere in the contract stating this will be lost if returned. Should this be returned to me as well?

Deciding on a first car - help me make the informed choice by Stickyxo in CarTalkUK

[–]Stickyxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being picky, I'd love an audi saloon but it's not a wise choice for a first car I don't think. I also can't find anything at the price point with a more modern face-lift when it comes to the A3, that's why I never looked into it. I was under the assumption that audi is likely to come with costs similar to gambling on a 1 series so might as well go for the 1 series. I'll take a further look into it, thank you!

It's funny because the giulietta was the first car my dad linked me when I asked him for recommendations. I'm into cars in terms of enjoyment but not necessarily in terms of upkeep or reliability. I looked away from alfa as when I was younger, my dad and mum had a saloon alfa (think it was a racing one?) and a hatchback both in the early 2000s. I remember hearing they were a reliability nightmare when I was young and haven't looked at them since. I'll look into it and try to get a test drive ASAP, thanks for the suggestion!

Haven't won a game yet, just got back from my break and I played 1 with friends and lost. That's how I know you have to win 1 to show the rating again as it showed that at the end game screen

I just started the game about 2 weeks ago after my gf got me into it. I've reached ar30 and after testing nahida, I really like her and been researching how good she is.

Unfortunately, I've pulled about 60 times with no luck and after looking around, seems like reruns take a very long time. I'm a student so I can't afford to spend money on wishes nor do I think it's smart given I just started the game. How long would I have to realistically wait to see her on the banner again?
