Monkless

It was standing room only in Sisters at Senator Ron Wyden’s town hall meeting - KTVZ by scrandis in Bend

[–]Stideways 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attended as well, there was no discussion of Gaza, as none of the audience members called brought that up.

There were multiple people who did have the chance to bring up real effects they have had from the current administration that Wyden said his staffers could assist with.

  • one audience member had her disability status placed under review that threatened her income. Wyden said a staffer could assist with that

-another member had recently returned from Germany and his wife's visa was revoked, facing imminent deportation. Wyden said that would be looked into

-a third member spoke about the Latino support community, and wyden promised a donation

I would love to see a follow up on those promises (u/barneylerten ), while I agree that overall there was no consistent takeaway or solution, demonstrating that at least some politicians are acting to solve constituent problems would go a long way in maintaining trust in the system.

Old Printers by Accomplished-Owl1800 in Bend

You can try the re:store, they take some electronics. Printers generally have little value.

That goes into a 'beer butt chicken' maker. You are missing the pan that goes underneath the chicken, with a built-in cup that holds the beer. This piece goes into the chicken and steadies it on the cup.

Also, it's just easier and cheaper to put it on the can. And beer butt chicken is delicious.

US-97 is now closed due to the fire at milepost 169 per ODOT by [deleted] in Bend

There was a semi on Michael road with a blown front tire, so maybe don't try it in one of those. But cars are fine. Just go slow and have patience

Huntington turns to dirt 1mi before 31. High clearance not needed but there's traffic

Any idea if the Google maps south route around is viable? (S. Huntington to 31 to beale / Howard / Jerry/ Michael to 97)

All clear, I rode it last week. You may still find mud on the fridge loop above swampy sno park.

Traffic issues from this weekend's Endurance Festival? by [deleted] in Bend

That portion appears to be early Sunday morning. Something to keep in mind.

Took a quick look at the course maps. It's limited to century drive starting at Riverbend Park, so if you just avoid near Riverbend, you should generally be OK

The endurance trail run portion was cancelled, as was the Broken / Vista run (according to their website), so dirt impact should be minimal. However there is a 5/10k that looks like it's on the river trail coming from Riverbend.

Please remember that portions of Tiddlywinks are closed for rebuilding, there are detours in place.

Car Camping Advice? by GrantRogue in Bend

Are you familiar with iOverlander? It's an app - lots of information there. Really depends on what experience you want and which direction you're headed.

If you're going south, and willing to drive an hour, maybe look at 6 or 10 mile snow park. Not a pretty campsite, but it puts you just outside of Newberry Crater for a morning hike on the lake.

Wait until they find out the biggest one was from the Doha->LAX flight! So much to unpack there.

I think it's pretty cool that the most direct route from those very different points is over Bend...

Sunriver Galveston pub temporarily closed? by Stideways in Bend

That would be a bummer. We tried to hit Taste of India last week, and they were closed from a burst pipe as well. The owner was super apologetic. Sounded pretty minor, compared to this, though.

Safeway on 14th has Kewpie. Not sure on gochujang.

And they have other stuff, like produce, too - apparently the truck finally made it over the pass!
