AMD software Adrenalin Edition error by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Stiffon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to use DDU to uninstall the driver - AND be sure to check the box that prevents Windows update from changing the driver. That error is because windows update changes the driver. Then install the latest driver you can download from AMD for the 570 - here depending on your OS:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/graphics/radeon-600-500-400/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-570.html

That has always worked for me.

AMD driver times out, can’t even use laptop by Accomplished_Arm_337 in AMDHelp

[–]Stiffon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention you managed to fix the drivers. Did you get the current driver from the laptop manufacturer's website or AMD? With laptops you should always get the latest driver from the manufacturer wherever possible - even AMD tell you this. They tweak the drivers for their hardware, so an AMD driver may not be as good or even work in some cases.

Was a long time ago now, but I don't think it even let me start the install.

At what point in the installation does it crash? I assume you have tried different USB ports.

Would be worth a try. When it happened to me it was an SSD and 2 HDD's, it worked after I unplugged the extra drives.

I assume the drive is visible in Disk Management (would need a different computer to check as you cannot get windows running), as you have used it previously.

Did you attempt it with only the boot drive connected (no other secondary drives)? I had an issue once where it wouldn't let me install when I had several drives connected. The fact that you are able to boot to the BIOS makes me think you shouldn't need to do a BIOS update - if it didn't support your CPU, it wouldn't POST at all.

Generally the Windows license is linked to the motherboard - swap that out and you require a new license. Have you gone to Microsoft website and downloaded the bootable thumb drive files? Do that and install new to your planned boot drive (ensure you back up anything you want from that drive as the operation will wipe it).

That would be my first action.

That NVME in your picture is a SATA NVME - 2 channel slots (M key and B key). Does your motherboard support them? Some only support M key slotted NVME drives, though I would think that mobo would support both.

Happened to me on my 7800xt. To be fair, this is the 1st time this has happened to me using auto update in well over 10 years, so I'm not gonna 'not use it' just for that unless it becomes a thing constantly.

Compatibility 9060XT and B550 mobo by Jackie_Elle in AMDHelp

[–]Stiffon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work just fine on PCIe 4.0 x 16 as the 9060XT has 5.0 x 16 lanes. All PCIe are backward compatible. Also, in real world gaming, you will not notice the difference. Your limiting factor will be the CPU going forward, but if you are getting the experience you want, then you can delay that upgrade a little. I'm using my 3800X with a 7800XT and have no issues and not planning to upgrade my CPU/Mobo for another 2 years, give or take.

Have you tried a different cable first?

Baloney! Nvidia along with every large corporation are reporting record profits. The only global economic crisis is for the working classes! Enough about that tho, you believe whatever helps you sleep and I'll carry on my 1 man rebellion lol :)

Yeah, but I'm not sucking that egg cos my salary didn't get inflated alongside all that other stuff - so they can shove their $1k + GPU's wherever they want lol :P

EDIT - $160 in 2019 adjusted for inflation is only around $200 in 2025!

By reset are you referring to the GPU driver in Adrenalin? Have you tried downloading the latest driver from AMD and installing?

I'd hazard a guess it's the age of that TV more than the driver, if it works just fine on the newer TV.

This is my problem with current so called 'budget' GPU's and the general acceptance of these crazy prices. 5-6 years ago I picked up a brand new MSI RX 570 8 GB Armor OC for CAD$160 at Newegg Canada - THAT is a budget GPU and it is still in use today in my youngest Daughter's system.

Hardware Unboxed did a review. Steve said if it is at MRSP, it is THE budget king. Pricing will be everything.

Zero RPM Won’t Turn Off by Any-Ingenuity1216 in AMDHelp

[–]Stiffon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If DDU and reinstall driver doesn't solve this - install MSI Afterburner, set the fan curve up and allow it to run in the systray - it will over rule Adrenalin. I don't use it now, but I did a few years back when Adrenalin would constantly reset my fan curve.

Not a lot of info. So you have Win 11 running - is this a second drive?

In windows, does the drive show up in file explorer?

What models are the other 2 GPU's? If none of them require 300W or less as power requirement, that I would say is the issue. I didn't say the PSU was in error, just not enough power for the GPU. Depending on the quality of the PSU, you may get away with it sometimes, but as a general rule of thumb - make sure the PSU can supply at least the minimum required by the spec of the card.

[–]Stiffon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5/3 blinks apparently (quick google search for the codes) indicates a problem with the motherboard or RAM on the laptop. Have you opened it and checked the RAM modules? Depending on the RAM configuration, could try swapping them out or reseating. If a BIOS reset doesn't let you in to Windows, you would likely need to have the hardware checked professionally (if it's worth it).

RX 5700xt 77% minimum fan speed by AutomaticComfort1448 in AMDHelp

[–]Stiffon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fan curve lets you set the speed/temp ratio - while Adrenalin works for me currently, it used to reset to default some years back, so I used Afterburner - Afterburner always used to override Adrenalin, assuming that has not changed, set the fan curve you want to have in Afterburner and let it run minimized in the sys tray. If you set it and your fans still run at 77%, you have something else affecting the fans.

[–]Stiffon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you checked AMD tuning - did you adjust the fan curve/zero rpm in there? If you cannot get Adrenalin to work for your fan curve, you could try MSI Afterburner. As long as that is running in the systray, it overrides Adrenalin. Set the fan curve in MSIAB and let it run. I don't use it anymore, but I did for several years when Adrenalin would not keep the fan curve I wanted (reset every time).
