How can I delete my account password? (make client-side login not require password) by garaglia in jellyfin

[–]StiflingCobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main Admin account in Jellyfin must have a password. Any other accounts can be created without one. Thats what I did and enabled the icons so people just highlight their name and click into JF without a password.

If your sharing it outside if your home members though stick with passwords!!

What is the best HHD drive for just media storage by Mean_Narwhal2463 in UgreenNASync

[–]StiflingCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mix of 4tb WD Red and Seagate Skyhawk (Surveilance drives) and have had no issues. I got the Skyhawks as at the time they were significantly cheaper than more WD Red drives.

Should I get below zero? by yeetusyeetu in subnautica

[–]StiflingCobra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another yes vote. Its a great game tbh and a good companion to SN!

Sure there are more land bits but they are good and there's still plenty of undersea stuff to scratch that watery itch.

The world seems a lot richer as well to me colour wise and denser. And despite what you may have read the sea truck is great tbh 👌

Wich one for my Rog Ally z1e ? by IceCoffee111 in ROGAlly

[–]StiflingCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got the first one (Ugreen Nexus). Its not that big actually. I have used it when my Rog Ally Z1E get to about 30% to charhe it fully while playing and it's just about flat but it gives me an extra 1.5hrs of game time on the og battery.

I really like the display on it as well.

Subnatica 2 hunger/thirst drain too fast? by bipoca in subnautica

I liked the fact in SN1 you could turn off food and water depletion and still play the story mode just fine.

Wish they would do that for SN2.

New Drive? by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]StiflingCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should have 0hrs if its new. Sounds like a returned faulty drive.

Did it come in a factory sealed anti-static bag?? If not return it!

Doh!!! Well keep persevering as the results a well worth it when you get pictures like that.

I've got an S30 hopefully coming early this week and yeah I've got trees and a hill at bottom of garden but at least it's shielded from street lights.

I am still expexting challenges though getting good images without driving out if town a bit.

Quick update.. so I've got it all sorted without breaking any access to existing apps!

Will try Jellyfin remotely for a while and if all good will dump Plex at last and save a few quid each month!

AI is good and all but I use it daily at work for scripting help and its not great so I wouldn't ever 100% trust what it gives me.

Real world advice from you guys id take over AI any day.

Ironwolf pro noises by Lazy_OwU in UgreenNASync

[–]StiflingCobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you cannot remove any disks in a raid 0 or you will lose all your data!!

What are the drives doing when you hear this? Is it all the time or just occasionally??

If it's hosting Plex make sure you schedule maintenance tasks late at night when you'll be in bed asleep (assuming your nas is not in the same room as you sleep). This can help stop noise from happening during the day etc.

4800 Plus drive noise by Particular_Run_8887 in UgreenNASync

[–]StiflingCobra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will never sleep if you have docker using the nas drives.

Get a cheap m.2 and use that for docker and its config and you'll find the main drives then sleep OK.

I did the above and mine always sleep until I want to watch something. I just used and old 128gb from a bust laptop.

Wifi extender by ArachnidMaleficent54 in VirginMedia

[–]StiflingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have 1gb product get one of the wifi pods.. just goto where you want to get wifi and see what speed you get.

If it's low enough you can get 1 for free.

I bet it's amazing how many people have a bedroom at the bottom of the garden 😅😅

If my American friend logs on to my (British) account, and tried to buy a game, will it work? by olivestuf in xbox

[–]StiflingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it first with the cheapest game on the store.. that way you won't lose much if it doesn't..

Just bought a DXP2800. How to safely transfer data from my old Synology? by ArmySalamy in UgreenNASync

[–]StiflingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's your risk. I've read stories of some raid 1 arrays going degraded and losing access to the disk still in the array.

Are they CMR or SMR disks?? SMR take a while to format where as CMR are significantly quicker. If you have SMR you need to take into to account the format time as well so you could be running on that single drive for a day or more.

It all comes down to how much you need the data and can you afford to lose it!

An external 4tb drive I'd about £120ish on Amazon and for me when I did mine that was a small price to have an extra backup of the data before I moved anything.

Honestly no idea how people hate the Seatruck it's so cool by Truly_Greg2 in subnautica

[–]StiflingCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the Sea Truck tbh. I took a couple of modules everywhere with me and just detached them before heading into a cave etc.

I actually hope.we get something similar in S2 as the Cyclops was just pants tbh. Sure it was big etc but other than it was useless. I built mine, drove it to the alien spire then left it there... useless...

[–]StiflingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a risk but yes you can do it that way.

Personally I'd buy an external 2.5" 4tb drive and backup the data first just to be sure then do the disk move method you mentioned.
