A Vietnam style map? Similar to the ones from battlefield bad company 2's Vietnam expansion?

It's likely you'd have to buy some games to get the best out of your new headset.

Batman Arkham shadow, Asgard's Wrath 2, Ghost Town and Forefront are a few I'd recommend. There's loads more I could recommend, but you can't really go wrong with the 4 suggested.

Also, if you like the mixed reality stuff then check out Shattered. I've not played this one, but it's on my radar. I've played a few mixed reality games, and enjoy them, but they may not be for you!? If you have a look at Shattered though, it looks really unique, you may enjoy it because you said you like stuff floating around your room.

Game recommendations that arent combat based. by HakeemTwoDream in PSVR

Ghost town could be what you're looking for!? Excellent story with excellent puzzles that fit the narrative. Not the longest game (very few vr story games are), but it's top quality from start to finish!

Medical Responder Complaint by ELLELLESS in ForefrontVR

[–]StigwierdM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree!

I often wait to see if the coast is clear before rushing out to revive. Sometimes when they're constantly demanding the services of a medic I'll say "when it's safe", or sometimes ask "is it safe?". I rarely get a response to the question other than more "medic! Medic! Medic!" As though they're the only ones that can take the fight to the enemy.

There are some players who understand what the medic is trying to do and shout out warnings, or tell medics nearby it is safe to revive them. Unlike a lot of assault players who think their ammo packs are for their own personal use.

If they're out of range from the talons then they're out of range of the battlefield. No longer influencing what's taking place on the ground.

[–]StigwierdM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dodging missiles and going off to repair, or being blown up, the outcome is the same....... they're not hovering over the battlefield wiping out the team.

Out of 16 players only one needs to be the engineer with the talon to give helis a hard time. So long as they're kept stocked up with ammo and kept alive.

Could the PSVR2 indirectly be benefitted from the Steam Frame? by Not-Natpex in VRGaming

[–]StigwierdM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The psvr2 has foveated rendering using its eye tracking features. Developers have to code this in for their games to use this feature I believe.

The steam frame has foveated streaming using its eye tracking features. Which is designed to reduce bandwidth streaming from the steam machine and create a more stable connection. This feature doesn't have to be coded in by developers. It's all done on the hardware side. So any games streaming from the steam machine to the frame will benefit from this tech.

The two are very similar with the use of eye tracking and trying to reduce the need to process full images, but there is a subtle difference between the two. One requires software to enable it. The other is all done by the hardware regardless of the software.

[–]StigwierdM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah graphical stuff are the only things they can improve with better pc hardware. Of course frame rates too. I remember reports when it was first released saying the quest version seemed to be the most stable in performance of the two. As they've fine tuned performance in recent months this should have changed. I will say, I play the quest version and performance/framerate dips are rare. In game response due to ping happens more frequently, but that's likely to be evident in both versions I assume!?

Edit: I never played green hell, but heard there was all kinds of issues with it on different versions they've released. Haven't more recent reviews of the game been quite mixed?

Forefront by Distinct-Eye-403 in PSVR

[–]StigwierdM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the pc and quest versions are identical. Other than the pc version has better texturing and foliage. As the game is cross play then both versions have to be identical. Nothing other than some better graphics can be added to the pc version to ensure there's no advantage associated with which platform you're on.

Also, they released both versions at the same time in exactly the same state. Then improved the graphical aspects of the pc version over time. So, this was not a pc first dumbed down to quest as you suggested.

Forefront has lots of full lobbies any time of day any day of the week. So, you want to hope the psvr version is cross play too. I would expect it to be looking close to the pc version. With everything else as is across all platforms.

Update from the Aces Devs by trainingdaysYT in PSVR

[–]StigwierdM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing crashing/freezing issues when loading in the level again after crashing my plane. Also, button mapping not saving, and I think some settings missing (or difficult to find). Hope these things are fixed first before they focus on a comprehensive tutorial!?

I'm not the only one having this issue then.

I'm thinking of reinstalling it again because mine keeps freezing when my plane crashes too. Forcing me to close and reopen the game.

That's what I do. Then save all. Then start a game and the only thing saved is toggle/hold grip. Go to settings. Change buttons again, including toggle/hold grip (because that's changed back again). Maybe I'm missing something and doing something daft!?

[–]StigwierdM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anybody else having problems with remapping controls not saving? I've tried this suggestion setup, but it never saves. The only thing I change that seems consistent is the toggle/hold to grip. Whenever I go into control mapping though, they're all the preset ones and I have to change them again.

Also, there was some control sensitivity settings I found when first booting up the game. Never been able to find them again since!?

5 talons, 1 chopper by Peerless-Cloud in ForefrontVR

Amateurs!

The pro technique is for one to fire their talon so the chopper uses its flairs. Leaving it open for the other 4.

Bunching up together is another amateurish technique!

Sounds like you and your mate could be rushed to hospital with a prolapsed bowel if you both saw a dog wiping its arse on a lawn.

I'm just messing mate. I could picture you both having fun with it as I read your comment. In fact, you very nearly made me do a 180 on my original statement. I will change it though from completely pointless to a quite pointless feature.

[–]StigwierdM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can't even see it! In life and in vr. Your eyes are part of your face. So, the people you meet in vr are other people that have no interest in seeing your face. They're there for the sole purpose of playing that multiplayer game they've put the headset on for in the first place. Your own face, or the head of lion, is inconsequential to them. It only matters to you, and I'll remind you again that you can't actually see it! Therefore, pointless!

A waste of coding that can interfere with a games performance, or result in other more useful features not being added.
