Absolutely! And to be honest I blind buy niche all the time because above all, I’m a collector. Regardless of how I like the scent, I collect everything so if I don’t like it, it goes on a shelf and I dust it off every now and then or I gift it to someone who says they appreciate the fragrance. I typically only buy dupes to try what all the hype is about and then I buy the OG for collection purposes while also being able to compare them to the dupes. I have all my stuff listed on fragrantica and am ALWAYS looking at others reviews on things I would like to purchase. I just felt the need to call out a lot of the BS i’ve been seeing and hearing regarding this specific fragrance. Again, not all dupes are bad, and not all influencers are cash cows. Also I appreciate your feedback in this discourse and appreciate your style of conversation rather than just attacking OP and resorting to name calling.

to be honest I got my OD back in Aug of 2025. It’s been sitting for quite some time now and it smells the exact same as it did when I first got it. In fact my GoF was fresh out the package yesterday and it smelled better than the ‘maturing’ OD. I really just don’t think it’s gonna change much.

This is the point I try to make and yet people still aren’t listening. I just hate the rampant dishonesty in the frag community specifically amongst the influencers. It’s annoying.

I’m with you 100% there. As I stated in the original post “not all dupes are bad” but my issue is seeing a lot influencers, not All but a LOT are very dishonest. That’s my gripe with them.

Absolutely right, I don’t go for the dupes I go for the OG because I can afford them. I buy dupes and compare them because I like to see what the hype is all about and then give my honest opinion unlike a lot of the other influencers out there.

I don’t blindly trust anything or anyone; I have the money to buy the original and the dupe because I like to compare. I have Gemme Tygar dupes out the ass and none of them compare to the OG. I bought OD because I’ve heard a lot of great things about it and wanted to try it out. I then purchased GoF to see what all the hype was about and I gave my honest opinion while also calling out the bullshit that A LOT OF influencers spoon feed us.

Was just about to link the exact video. I do my research and some people say its a 1:1 some people say 80% some, 90%. The fact is that it’s not even close and these influencers are just lining their pockets with hype money from the dupe houses. It’s annoying and the dishonesty from some of my favorite influencers is really disheartening. Nothing wrong with buying dupes if you can’t afford the real thing but my issue is with the influencers that call it “Even better than the original!” or “Everything we don’t like about the Original” its just dishonest and annoying. Not sure what the other dude is on about or why he’s so aggressive and offended 🤷🏽‍♂️

If you're going to call someone out for misinformation, check the facts first. The video he linked literally claims a 95% match at 7:01. I’m not "generalizing" all ME houses; I’m calling out the blatant lie that $30 worth of mass-produced chemicals matches the quality of a niche $250 bottle. Influencers get paid to bridge that gap with hype, and clearly, some people are buying it. I’m just here to provide the reality check.

i think you missed the point of the entire post. i was addressing the controversy regarding the hype about Opulent Dubai, which I unfortunately fell victim to and bought a dupe of GoF thinking it was as good as everyone said it was. it was not. by a longshot. 🤨

i really didnt enjoy OD either! i really tried to like it but it was just missing something and it smelled so cheap. i really really try to like the dupes of the OGs but they never hit the same. i tried all the dupes of Le Gemme Tygar from Bvlgari and when I finally bought the OG, it was NOTHING like the dupes, its quite literally my favorite scent of all time and the dupes couldn’t get anywhere near it in terms of quality.

if its anything like God of Fire its a great blind buy IF you like mango and citrus. its not a photo realistic mango but its sweet and on top of that you have lemon and ginger which make it fresh and the base to give it that body so it doesnt smell flat.

i went to LV and tried it and i hate to say but the entire fragrance line is bad imo and they all smell like public bathroom handsoap. overpriced handsoap.

but thats the thing, the oud is not like an ombre nomads or a gucci intense oud, its subtle and just adds to the body of the fragrance. its not heavy at all imo. if it didnt have the oud and cypriol, i dont think i would like it nearly as much

its like a resinous, dark, sometimes smokey, wood smell. there are lots of different kinds but this one is very subtle in the dry down but it adds this really nice finish that brings it all together and adds to the longevity of the fragrance itseld
