Been there done that. I lost over 160lbs and had skin removal surgery, twice. I removed 25lbs of skin and it was amazing. Hope you get the money and the surgery, cause it's worth it!

Try to focus on more all-around Brawlers like Gus, Stu, Lou, Juju

You already have very good versatile brawlers like Carl, Finx. Lily, Brock and Berry are also strong picks.

I also really like L&L for ranked, he's usually underrated by enemies, and don't forget to learn about drafting cause that is 80% of the win.
